Oh no the super cute penguin died because I'm bad at this game :( Nice game and cute animations, good job

I Realy like the animation! but the collisions are a bit wierd, and the gameplay gets repetitive after a while, more enemies and better collisions could really help!

good job!

Neat little game! I like the  art style and the penguin character. If there had been more time, I'd love to see a few more enemies!

Penguins and ducks are comrades since ancient times.
The game has great visuals and really fun mechanics. Sadly after the tutorial I never got another card. Could I ask you about the generation of the rooms? I was trying to do something like this in godot.

What I like

  • The generation of rooms
  • The variety of enemies
  • The inventory was an original concept
  • The penguin

Thanks for the Feedback. Yes of cause you can, what do you want to know?  We hand crafted the rooms for now and the Dungeon itself is randomly generated

Submitted

About the dungeon what's the process to generate the room. Each room contains a reference to the next room to spawn room?
Or there's a script that controls the generation of each room and their openings?

Developer

All rooms of a level are generated at the start and saved in an dictionary with their grid coordinates, when the player moves into one door it emits a signal to the map with the direction of the door

Nice game! The card mechanics that add buff and nerf is great and I liked the fact that is refresh at every layer.

Good Job!!

Nice game man! Real issac vibes hahahah. I love the crawler's walking animation, and the idea of using the cards only for the floor you are in that moment is refreshing! The only downside is that the web game was a bit buggy in my pc so i had to download it, also when a got to the 3rd floot trapdoor the game crashed :(. Overall good game, nice work!

Heya, im doing video feedback for some reason, I really enjoyed your entry!

Overall gameplay is great and I love how the cards add a buff and a nerf.  Nice tutorial too. There are some minor glitches though (sometimes the bullets don't fire and stay on the ground, especially with the double snowball buff). The random generation also spices things up. Great job!

Developer

Oh, we didn't catch that bug. Thank you for playing and pointing it out.

I like the card mechanic a lot, just wish it kept your cards when you progress to the next layer.

Nothing like playing as a penguin in hell lol, enjoyed the animations they were looking very nice and the monster animations and projectiles were looking fantastic great job :)

Penguin's spit kills monsters? Damn that game is fun. I don't know how many layers there are because I only got to layer 1(it's just too hard for me). It's very hard at first when you don't have cards. Card modifiers are quite fun to test. Are the layers' maps randomized?

Developer(+1)

Thanks. The rooms are currently made by hand, but the dungeon structure is randomly generated

That gives me the idea, maybe the player should start with some random cards. Would that feel better?

Wow nice game with the penguin being in hot climate like hell HAHA

however, when you are at the top most part of the screen, the snowball from his mouth will disappear immediately since  the Penguin's face/mouth will immediately launch the snowball to the wall. but I guess that is the delimiter or the object that would stop the bullet from travelling outside the screen :)

Also, but not sure, that two "spitting enemy" spawned in the same hole so two fireballs came out haha

Thanks.
We plan to fix both of those bugs, just didn't come during the Jam.

I like the card mechanic of combining buffs with nerfs! However in the beginning it was sometimes hard to know what the card would do. Otherwise a solid game!

Developer

Thank you for playing. We knew that the symbols wouldn't always be clear from the beginning, but we tried to keep Text out of the Card-Designs.
