It was fun. This is the first game I've played where you have to defeat an army of Nazis with an elven death stack. The night sky background, the snow effects, the pixel art, it's all great!

Thanks! I also loved your game it felt super polished and well built.

*I cant rate but I can still comment hehe*

Cool interpretation of the theme to make a age of war esc strategy game! I ended up doing a few runs cause I have such a nostalgia for that genre.

Run 1, I was confused and getting out paced quite fast, I ended up skimming the explanation page labeled settings but didn't really digest it, its alot of text to get through. When it comes to explaining concepts in a jam it can be quite hard when there is that much data. What might have helped me ease into it a bit better would have been to have a tool tip that appears when hovering the button, that way players don't have to double back to the main menu and they can read one at a time. Just a thought.

Run 2, I read the characters a bit slower and it stuck alot better that toy makers were my economy so I started the run by spamming the hell out of them and I quickly learned that they are quite good hehe. The usual go to for this genre is having expensive permanent increases in you income, this was a interesting twist where you could create cheap temp income. Its really cool. I had no issue clearing the game once I realized they made money. They were so good I had an idea for run 3.

Run 3, so I will be honest the game has a balance issue, which is that toy makers are very very OP. I did an entire run just spamming click with them, they are unstoppable since you make so much money and they do ok damage (they just kind one shot everything and if one dies 10 took its place). This is probably why games in this genre do expensive permanent income upgrades hehe

This was bigger scope type game but you executed in a way that I had alot of fun messing with it, which is always a win when I play jam games. But there are a few things I want to note:

- The game would feel alot more alive with more sound effects, shooting dying, etc. With this many units it would have been extra work to make some sort of sound limiter so you dont have 500 overlapping sounds but would have been worth it Imo.

- These kind of games are usually more zoomed out, and the map felt super long because of how zoomed in the game was. It took alot of time to go from place to place on the battle field which hurt the experience a bit.

Honestly minor things, in the end what you made was really great for the time frame.

Biggest thing is I had alot of fun

Proof toy makers are too hype:

Short and sweet, and I could have played for longer. I felt like I was just figuring it out when it was over.

Game genre doesn't break any molds, but theme and execution is good. Smart move, leveraging the design of an existing genre.

Also, killing Nazis never gets old.

thanks man, i was going to add a second level where you counter attack and invade germany and kill hitler but i didnt want to overscope.

Awesome! I haven't seen a game like this at a game jam yet, very original! 100% of control is indirect, pog. I made so many toy guys my fps tanked, but I could make a Krampus every second LOL. Nice pixel art!

Developer

thanks man i appreciate it, the art was were i spent the majority of my dev time.

My grandpa said this is how it all happened. And I believe him!

Great little game, giving some huge Age of War vibes. I wish the map was a bit shorter though.

Pretty cool game! My one critique of this game is to make the instructions of the game a little more clear in the beginning. I really liked the art though!
