Short and sweet! I like the way you used the butterflies here, both as a symbol and in the gameplay.  The characters are charming, I'm really happy about how things turned out for them!

The story is one of my favorites in the jam, I really liked it and I felt the music choice was really good and made me all emotional too. The art needed a bit of work imo, but it was all very cute and charming! Congratulations :)

Tysm! Do you have suggestions for the art? I'm very novice.

Sure! this is a playlist of a very good pixel artist, covers a lot of themes, MortMort also has great tutorials (especially helpful if you decide to use Aseprite for your art), and last but not least Adam C Younis has a lot of tutorials that cover everything, from beginner stuff to more advanced things. If you have particular questions or need some help you can talk to me and I'll be happy to try and help you out, I'm be no means the best pixel artist, but I graduated as a visual communicator and been working as a graphic designer for +5 years so I know a thing or two about art in general, my discord is joaototti#9423 :)

Thank you very much, I'll check that out!

Thanks! Yeah I'm not suuuuper used to pixel art yet so I wasn't well set on the sizes and that led to some blur.

Pros

  • Perfect use of the magical realism theme! You really knew how to implement it!
  • Fantastic visuals! I loved the art style and the sprites!
  • Music was absolutely amazing and fitting! Congratulations to composer Steven TamJam. 10/10 music, I loved it.
  • Although the game is short, the plot is very engaging and you actually care for these characters. Getting to see how Alina and her wife met was very sweet!

Cons

  • I came across a bug: some words would overlapp. It's certainly not a serious bug and I could still enjoy the game though.

Overall: very short but fun and sweet game with adorable visuals, a really engaging plot and a fantastic soundtrack! The implementation of the magical realism theme was simply perfect!

Really loved the concept of the butterfly going out and catching it again to feel loved. I enjoyed it :)

This was such a sweet story. I like how such a common phrase was both made literal and used as a metaphor for the love the two main characters have for each other. And the music is really pretty.

There's a bug with the text when you look at the items (when I looked at the picture and then the wedding dress, the picture text didn't go away so I couldn't read the text one). And there's a small spelling mistake in the wedding scene. But other than that, this is done pretty well!

Good job getting this in!

Oh frick I knew about this bug but I forgot to correct it. Thanks for pointing it out, and for the review!

Nice job with the game! The flashbacks were a nice touch and it was a solid story.  Loved the music changing between the scenes too in a very narrative way. Everything tied together for a nice story and it was a perfect length for a game jam.
