Overall: short but very fun, with a really interesting and addictive gameplay and really nice pixel art. Great work!
Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed your time with it!
Great game ! Like the gameplay ! It would be great to use credits, as the assets are not from you (if you have, I didn't see it)
I really like the puzzles, even if some are tough one !
Congratulations ! It's a good game !
Thanks for playing the game and I am glad you enjoyed it! And yea you are right about the assets. I used all free art assets from itch and I didn't think about crediting. I don't expect this game to get any play outside of the jam, but probably should credit people anyways if anybody wants to check them out. I'll update the page.
Just updated my page with credits.
The art directions feels a bit over the place since the assets you got aren't all from the same artist, tha bat-key is very original and the concept of it is nice. The puzzle someone already mentioned is a bit unforgiving playing it on keyboard since you have to make it all with just one hand. Congratulations on making your game :)
Thanks for playing it and I appreciate and agree with your critiques. I unfortunately suck at art and am kind of forced to use art assets and rarely does one artist have all the sprites I need. I'm gonna look into at least converting all assets I use to the same color palette in my next jam.
It's an interesting game, never had a key bat mechanic before in a game; and it definitely has potential for really cool puzzles.
For me personally, a chunk of the time the jumps felt impossible or very unlikely I'd make them. A few key shots in and I couldn't get the jump down.
The movement feels glidey, like the character is walking on ice. The deceleration doesn't feel high enough. I didn't face any precise platforming which made this more of an issue of moving around than overcoming obstacles.
The character collider also looks like it's a little too big; the player stands off the ground by a pixel or two.
You can also trigger narrative more than once if you go back. I found this out after getting the key bat and wondering if I could open the chest at the start. Then retriggered multiple NPC narratives.
The music is really good and fitting; absolutely enjoyed it! The art is also very nice and has some character to it which is great. I'm not in love with the text color and textbox design; but it passes through.
Thanks for playing and I appreciate the critiques. Definitely some things I can work on. With the dialogue I left it enabled in case someone accidentally skipped a line prematurely, but maybe I should've disabled them on conversation end.
Very cool setup! Music is awesome, sound effects are implemented perfectly, and the visual style really complements it all. Great work! But you lost me when I had to play flappy bird with the key and run and jump simultaneously... no game is for everyone, I guess! :D
Haha fair enough. Thanks for playing! I didn’t even think about the key mechanic being like flappy bird but you are totally right! Gonna check out your game when I get home.
Really fun and challenging! Good thing you get unlimited keys or I'd be in trouble! lol
What an awesome game! The pixel art is super clean and I enjoy the gameplay a lot. Overall this is a very good game and I had a lot of fun playing this! Great job!
