Thank you so much for playing and for you very in depth comment, I really appreciate it!
I did wanted to implement and inventory system, but sadly didn't have enough time to do so! This time I decided to not have much choices, since this is the story we wanted to tell and it was designed that way. I'm all in for player choice, but sometimes it hurts the story and that's why this decision was made, but yeah would love to play with the idea! Thanks again :)
I really liked how it was all written and paced, it seemed to take it's time to develop the characters personalities, but then the ending felt a bit rushed, felt like something big was about to happen and then credits roll!! Interesting take overall y me da gusto ver a más gente de México haciendo juegos! Felicidades :)
The main mechanic is very interesting and unique for the jam, very creative! The gameplay got a bit repetitive due to the very slow beginning and for not having checkpoints. Apart from that, I enjoyed my experience with the game and you found a game to tell a story though gameplay which not everyone is able to do. Congratulations :)
I got a game breaking bug, it launched me outside the map and it just broke haha. The character controls are very responsive which is good, but the lack of animation or audio queues make the gamefeel weird. I liked a lot the metroidvania style of map. Very impressive that you submitted the game with just 45 seconds remaining, congratulations!
Unlike everyone else, I didn't mind the screen shake haha but yeah, maybe tone it down a bit of make it so it doesn't affect the text and maybe it won't hurt people's head. Your art is great and the art direction was really well made. I enjoyed the story, very magical but I don't think it quite fits into the realism part too much. Congratulations on making your game :)
It's sad that the UI broke, cause the game sounded very interesting and the art style is quite unique and cute. Apart from that, the dialogue takes a long time to advance and makes the gameplay really slow, I hope you can implement a button to go to the next dialogue and get to fix the UI in order to properly enjoy the idea you had in mind for your game :)
The art direction is really good and the premise of the story got me hooked, but I don't think this is a game since it can be 0% interactable, it's easily fixable by making it point and click or branching dialogues or something, hopefuly you do decide to expand on it because it looks very interesting and shows a ton of potential
Sure! this is a playlist of a very good pixel artist, covers a lot of themes, MortMort also has great tutorials (especially helpful if you decide to use Aseprite for your art), and last but not least Adam C Younis has a lot of tutorials that cover everything, from beginner stuff to more advanced things. If you have particular questions or need some help you can talk to me and I'll be happy to try and help you out, I'm be no means the best pixel artist, but I graduated as a visual communicator and been working as a graphic designer for +5 years so I know a thing or two about art in general, my discord is joaototti#9423 :)
Your game has a ton of style, in every single aspect of it, still., I found the art a bit inconsistent due to sometimes being clean and sometimes having the lines all jaggy. I felt it needed a bit of speed? Felt like I was going at a walking speed instead of delivering pizzas fast across space, could make the game a lot more fun too imo. Sometimes the VO overlapped and I couldn't appreciate what was going on. It's a very creative game in general, congratulations!
The art directions feels a bit over the place since the assets you got aren't all from the same artist, tha bat-key is very original and the concept of it is nice. The puzzle someone already mentioned is a bit unforgiving playing it on keyboard since you have to make it all with just one hand. Congratulations on making your game :)
So sad you didn't have enough time to finish the game, it looks like it has a ton of potential. Apart from the not implemented card game, the triggers to talk to some characters were hard to hit and I didn't get sound, maybe it was a bug or maybe you didn't have time to put that in! The low poly art looks great and gives it a ton of personality. I hope you keep working on making this a more complete game!
The writing is really really good, I enjoyed the letters from the stranger a lot. Even if you aren't native speakers, you did a great job, your English is great :) it'd be amazing to see more this game expanded, maybe making the writing letters the main mechanic, but having the character be at home and interact with stuff? Just throwing ideas haha congratulations on making your first game, hoping there's more to come :D
It has a lot of personality and doesn't take itself seriously, which I enjoyed a lot, not sure that surrealism is the same as magical realism though. Also not sure if using copyrighted painting is okay, but it's a nice experiment! Music or ambience sounds would have added a lot to the experience too. Congratulations :)
The combat is interesting, but the skills take too much time and it leaves you without a combat option for a long time, and since there are no checkpoints, you have to go through that long text intro a lot. The art looks a bit over the place, since it's different art styles and resolutions. I think with more time, this has the potential of being a very interesting and fun game, hope you keep working on it after the jam. Congratulations :)
I don't know if it was intended, but I got an ending(?) where the game just shut down, seems to be like it wasn't the intention since everything else was very well crafted and we can see you put a lot of care into the game. The art is really good, very unique and helps with the immersion, and since you have a great art team I'm gonna go ahead and "complain" about the Lovecraftian way of solving the horror and just saying "it's very scary, trust me" but your art is very good so maybe show it to us? Pleaseee? :D congratulations, it's a very well made visual novel!
