Thanks for an excuse to mess around with a new game engine and other people's self portraits!

This made me laugh a lot! It's so wonderfully silly and at the same time surprisingly philosophical. I like how you used the  paintings and how you managed to make them so expressive just by position and scale.    The characterization is brilliant!

I don't think it's realistic enough for the jam's theme, and the lack of sound or music was kinda  disappointing, but I enjoyed it nevertheless!  Great work!

Agree! Thanks for playing! :D

Using paintings is really cool ! The story is great. With some music, it would have been better. I regret the lack of interactivity. At the first choice (maybe there isn't other idk), I was blocked and cannot continue even with relaunching the game.

Oh no! I'm not sure why you couldn't restart. Perhaps try clicking the back arrow on the dialogue box a few times? That's not really a block, though, it's just the 'stopped time' ending. Time just stays stopped forever.

Yup, only one choice, and yup, I forgot music! XD This was never intended to be a 'serious project' or even to be rated highly. I was going to mess around with some tools and art anyway, but this jam gave me a theme and a deadline, two things this project desperately needed. It's just a bonus that all these awesome people get to see it too!

Yeah I tried the back arrow to and it worked, but again I got stuck :(
Yeah I totally get it, but really it's a cool project :D you can be proud ;)

Very weird and quirky, and I liked it a lot. I also liked that you tried to convey a message in the writing.

It has a lot of personality and doesn't take itself seriously, which I enjoyed a lot, not sure that surrealism is the same as magical realism though. Also not sure if using copyrighted painting is okay, but it's a nice experiment! Music or ambience sounds would have added a lot to the experience too. Congratulations :)

Ah, music! That's what I forgot. Thanks! :D

This was a very interesting project!
The use of portrait art was really interesting and fun. I think something like this would be great for teaching history without being super expensive to do.

The story is wacky and humorous! Jabbing and making general commentary on the art styles was fun to read. I like things that are wacky but in the best way possible; and this is a few controversial decisions to could be an Adult Swim styled cartoon.

Pros

  • Fantastic use of the theme!
  • The visuals are very unique. Using paintings is an awesome idea!
  • The plot is weird, strange, bizarre and I'm not sure if I really understood what happened, but I still loved it and enjoyed the character interactions!
  • Multiple endings! Good!

Cons

  • I think some music would have been a great addition to the game.

Overall: one of the strangest and most original games I've ever played. Amazing work! Short but really interesting and with tons of abstraction!

Music! I knew I was forgetting something! XD Thanks!
