EDIT. Steam page:https://store.steampowered.com/app/2094520/World_Serpent/

With Jam going for a week now it feels like I could show some progress of my game.

I though of making some sort of 3d snake game in a spherical world that in my final concept turned into globe.
I'd say this somewhat follows "Tiny world" theme - even though you got entire planet its still small for you!
Base mechanic is easy: eat monsters, grow bigger, try not to run into yourself.
Not much effort is put into graphics or UI at this stage, just the base concept.

Snake design is clearly inspired by Eater of worlds from Terraria :)
Also snake can jump so you can attempt going over yourself or under where you jumped before.

After losing camera goes free so you can see your full size

So far I'm planning more different planets and monster variety

I could use a helping hand from someone who can help with graphics or sound. Then I'll have more time to work on other featuers.

Yo this is awesome!! Keep up the good work :D

Small update on my game.

Made Planet sellection screen

Tried making some models in Blender for monsters and snake head
Made new monster type that floats in the air and can be eaten by jumping

Ok, that jump mechanic is very clever. Kinda excited to see how far ppl can push it.

Thanks! I also hope I can get others to play it!

Still lots of work ahead though.

Been busy rewriting what I had so far so didn't have any visible progress last week.

Now I feel lots of new stuff was added in last 2 weeks thanks to all that.

First of all, I convinced a friend to help me with 3d models. So far got few monster models like giant crab, flying jelyfish and a fly. Hopefully will get better looking snake soon :)

Added some simple buildings from one of those low-poly model packs to create destructible environment.

And I figured that charterers should have some sort of "shadow" bellow them to make it easier to tell where stuff is (a specially with flying monsters).

Also I figured out a way to improve how gravity works and now stage is not limited to just fully round object.

After this I felt I should also try getting doughnut shape to work and after few more hours it did :D

Submitted

This looks chaotic and fun. I can see from just the screenshots that it's going to be addictive... "Just one more try at the doughnut level!" :D

Some good amount of content made this week!

First of all, snake finally has a new model.

Reworked a few more things in my system to allow for few more interesting elements (like tunnels or inside of a sphere). Still have to deal with some bugs introduced by this though.

This makes it total of 16 stages this far. More than I thought I would make for this game :D Probably will have to rework selection screen soon because of how much space it takes to show them all.

Finally I decided to name my game World Serpent. Seemed unique enough from what I found others called their snake games :D
And here is a potential Main Menu screen.

Finally set up my game page here

As I never published anything to Steam before it will take few more days before I get all things done there.

I also never made/edited videos before :(

but I hope game preview is ok.

Will still keep un updating the game but at least now others can see it.

Feel free to ask for download key :)

Your page looks good, definitely a color scheme that goes well with your game art, and the trailer is spot on. You get into the core gameplay straight away, which is what consumers want to see. Good job!

Submitted

Took more time to finish this than expected. Now snake can be reskined. Each color is going to cost points that you earn from playing the game.

Also added good old 3 stars system to the stages. Get more points to get all 3 stars. Unlocking new stages now will require to set amount of total stars to be collected.

Now I'll probably try building a small demo playable from web.

Submitted

Added 4 levels demo playable from browser to the game page.

Finally made it to steam:https://store.steampowered.com/app/2094520/World_Serpent/

Whould be cool if you guys could whishlist it :)

Also did some other improvments: added contoller support; made levels a bit more brighter; switched Unity's default sphere models with one that is more detailed so that planets look rounder; and few more improvments

Submitted

Finished last few fixes and changes to the game before time runs out. Nothing major though.

Now I can take a small break from this and see what others think and if its woth expanding on this idea.

Looks like I messed something up. lol

Even though Steam allowed me to set today as a release date at the begining I still have to wait a week due to game not being visible as coming soon for 2 weeks. I guess I should have payed more attention to all information in the Admin panel :(
