Great job submitting a game and congrats on getting third place! I had a blast with this game, its a short, fun, and very polished adventure in the deep.

Visually its clean and cute. I love how everything looks like it was bolded with thick outlines, it feels a little childish in the best way possible. You didn't skimp out on the details either, like how the sound seems to go in sync with the propeller. You added a subtle knockback from firing a torpedo, which made it feel much more powerful. Also how the hatch opens on surfacing.

The surfacing concept does so many jobs which is super clever and convenient. In the beginning it forces you to take small expeditions at a time and creates a sense of urgency when trying to explore for too long. Even after death it acts like a save point which prevents a lot of potential frustration. The upgrades are easily identifiable and feel meaningful, giving the player more freedom to explore with less stress.

The big squids were a great surprise. Loved how the game looped back to the beginning at the end. I only wish there was more! Good work and thanks for participating!

This was a really fun game! I love how big and charming the sprites are despite the low resolution. This is a really good foundation for a larger experience.

This game also unlocked a deep memory of an old PC game I played a long time ago as a kid. It's called "In Search of Dr. Riptide". I'd be interested to know if you ever knew of that game (here's a gameplay video if you're curious):

Great entry! I played the game, and it is actually a great demo.

The concept can be pushed further with better graphics.

Thank you,

I will try to improve the game later

Really neat game! I included it in my Nokia 3310 Jam 4 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

This is cool!

Thanks :D

Great little metroidvania. Feels like a lot of thought went into the map design and layout. The sprites are charming AF as well. Don't really have any qualms. A short little fun game

Great game the sub animation has so much personality, a joy to control.  Game was also simple to understand and get into.

The Game Looks Amazing And I Love The Boss Fight! The Art Seems To Taken A Long Time And I Dislike The Bosses Artwork Because It Seem As It Was Made In A Rush By Scailing The Squid Sprite! =D

Developer

Thanks,

Yeah I rushed for the bosses because I didn't have time x) , I also wanted to add other enemies.

Controls/mechanics are a bit simple and I’d love a map, but it’s a very competent Metroidvania considering the short development time. The missiles have a great feel, I noticed they can be angled a bit. The little touches like explosion clouds, knockback, screenshake are appreciated.

I especially like the art. It’s been interesting to see different takes on what can be done with the limited palette and resolution, because I would have thought ‘almost nothing’ before I started playing other entries, but the use of thick lines really stands out.

Developer

Thanks :) ,

I like the thick pixel lines and I wanted to try it on 84x48 resolution

This game is so much fun! You need some nerve to keep the oxygen level while exploring the depths... And of course those enormous bosses are hilarious :D
Well done, very polished game!

Developer

Thank you!

I really appreciate it :D
