I have explored as much as I can and I still fear I haven't seen it all, sick game

Very nice! I absolutely love metroidvanias, so its great to see a minimalist spin on it for this jam. Love the scale of the world map - felt like I was exploring a giant ants nest. The fog of war is a great choice too and really helped to reinforce that feeling of constant exploration and discovery. Will definitely revisit if you do update it post-jam. Good work!

What a huge map! I love the fog-of-war effect, it feels like you're constantly discovering something.

This is awesome, so creative!

The only problem I had was sometimes not being able to drop down pixel wide gaps, especially with a roof above.

Great work

A  fun mix of frustration and eureka moments

Developer

Interesting, what was the frustration caused by? Falling and having to get back up? Falling because of not seeing a platform or wall?

Hmm I guess its both of those? Its mostly those parts where I felt stuck as there was no way to extend the map anymore. Then the jumping around like a crazed rat or making intelligent guesses leading to finally opening up more space are the eureka moments.

I LOVE this, I feel like this is the perfect epitome of what the jam is about. Admittedly I had no idea what was happening at first, just mashing direction buttons, but I think that made it even cooler when I realized I was slowly illuminating new spaces to explore. Awesome game and satisfying sound design too, I think the tiny walking noises add a ton to the overall feel.
Probably my favorite that I've tested so far, great work! Going to try to get all the secrets now hehe

I had tested this game a little and really liked the concept and exploration. The gameplay is simplistic and incredible without having to use the 12 buttons. I'll play again after the game jam.

It was fun, I beated the game and it feels really big!

I like it very much! It is very simple and satisfying (revealing the secret passages). It is a bit challenging sometimes and figuring out that you can press buttons took a while. When I got powerups I also didn't immediately understand that. But it was really fun... accidentally finished the game before finding everything though. Great map/world!

Hi, thanks a ton for your feedback! (The game saved before you jumped off so you can search more if you feel like it.) This will be useful for the full version I'm planning, trying to decide whether or not to use a text tutorial but I'll probably do something like a) putting the first button in a very wide flat clearing so it stands out and b) putting 3-block steps before and around the first jump pickup so it's clearer what it does. Thanks again!
