I love the cat puns. I wish there was a level builder for this. Thinking about it, I think this should be a Kerbal Space Program game for cats. It's a cute little game, but it would be better as a mobile game, which is more tailored to dragging things.

This one's a banger, as it's fun to see if you can 100% this,  plus the cat theme is perfectly implemented here. I'd also like to mention how well the page's theming is implemented too! There are many flaws I'd like to point out, however:

  1. The game is dragged using the right mouse key. Remap this to the left mouse button.
  2. The game is too pixelated when I scale it up to full screen, no matter which scaling settings I try on my 4K monitor, whether it's the size of the screen or everything on it.
  3. The last three upgrades are just the same, while the first two basically do the same thing with the same exact multiplier, just in different ways. There's basically only three real real upgrades here.
  4. Upgrades should stack so, say, one of the planets can produce 4x then 6x its original output after previously producing 2x. This feature would especially be useful for the limited number of planets I had to deal with here.
  5. The description for the Quick Prod upgrade makes it seem as if it'll actually DECREASE how fast the planet will produce resources by 2x rather than increase it.

It would also been nice if you could figure out a system to allow multiple planets to interconnect and thus pool all their resources together for the betterment of the colony. Maybe you could've also squeezed in some extra planets so it doesn't have to rely on the 100%ing aspect to be really enjoyable, as well as rectified some of the flaws I listed or just not created them in the first place?

So awesome, I played this from a little cafe and loved it. So impressive what you achieved with the time given, looking forward to seeing future updates. The screen transitions and zooming around feel really cool!

Great work. :D

I enjoyed this game loads! It's really my kind of thing. Having a 10 min timer with an online leaderboard gives it so much replayability and I love the gameplay loop you should be super proud!

It did take a while to understand, if the tutorial was split up and each section shown when you got to that point it would help a lot. As I forgot how to activate the planets once I finished reading the full instructions and got stuck for a while. Also, you can soft lock yourself with auto-buys so a toggle would be good.

Additionally, after playing for a while and having the top score I got some insight on some balance. I imagine it's the only thing you really understand after many attempts of playing, yarn cost for planets further out should be more expensive, even if you have a close planet to connect to. Having them always be 2-3 yarn makes it trivial to buy every planet at once just a couple mins into a run. And by far the best strategy is to get like 25 yarn at the start, then buy every planet at once then play the entire game on the way stronger end planets.

But other than that small polishing stuff it was great so very well done!

thank you :) !
it was hard to do significant playtesting in the jam period so balancing was a little tricky ๐Ÿ˜…
i really appreciate the feedback and congrats on the top score !!

This is so cute! And so fun! I would love to see it developed into a full game (so I can continue my cat planet empire :3). Thanks for making!

Developer

i might continue working on it post-jam, we'll see :)

This is so cute!! I love the names of the planets and found myself wanting to unlock them just to see what they're called :')

The music is lovely and the music pop ups are a nice touch. And the option to skip song in the menu as well is great!

I think a preview of what the planet does would be nice? Since you can yarn to anywhere it would be nice to preview in case you want to spend some extra yarn to get something specific in repeat playthroughs.

I'd also like if you could toggle auto buy - I bought one and realised it bit me in the butt when it was draining my resources, lol.

One phrasing issue was the item that says "Halves the production speed of a planet" which makes it sound like it slows it down, I guessed you meant "halves the production time"

Great game well done!!

thanks a lot and thanks for all the feedback :)
good spot on that phrasing ill be sure to fix that !
