Alright, thanks everyone! I made some post-jam preparations. Giving myself two months after the jam to make it happen. Fingers crossed
Due to some stuff, I have to delay this project for a while. It's almost ready, but I have to take care of a bunch of other things :)
This is awesome stuff! Nice gameplay that keeps you coming back, charming visuals, and hopefully it doesn't make people bird haters when we once again return to the outside world ha - Nice work!
Ha! Thanks, but remember to throw food at them instead once it's all over :D/
Those rocks do be looking like joints :flushed:
Pretty fun game. Getting a triple kill off a ricochet makes me feel like those mlg call of duty trickshot montages so thats always a nice touch
Thanks! In the post-jam release, multikills will have their own indicators (double/triple/quadra/penta kill), which will be a part of the current session tasks. Hopefully even more to come!
A well-designed game where the elements support each other. Gameplay is smooth and provides a nice challenge. Maybe I would have liked a little panic atmosphere if the birds had gradually filled the screen if you hadn't hit them :D The looks and animations of the birds are great! The thing that bothered me a bit was the style differences between the assets. Birds are cartoonish, bg and other assets has more realistic details. Overall polished and addictive game, and fun to play ^^!
Thanks, I'm aware of the style differences, I used assets from other games I have scrapped, these are just temporary assets for the jam, they will be changed to pixel art after the rating period is over. The only asset that I made specifically for this jam was actually the bird.
About the panic atmosphere, when you are trying to focus on killing the birds as fast as you can and you have 5-7 seconds until they start pooping, the game starts being really stressful when you reach the maximum speed (500 kills) and you are playing on Hardcore mode - the birds appear, you miss them once, twice, then you can't keep track of which bird appeared first. I think that turned out really great.
I made the bird's spritesheet by looking at the reference to not just copy someone's work.
Here's the comparison, my first spritesheet drawing attempt https://i.imgur.com/WsNv8xu.gifv
The reference on the left is really smooth, mine doesn't look that great, the legs are totally messed up, but I think it's fine for the first try, I really rushed this one. Looks more like a penguin. I hope my next attempt will be way better. Thanks for the comment!
I have to test HC mode :D
Funny, addictive and a great time killer. Perfect submission that encompasses the jam theme
Thanks! I wasn't entirely sure if it fits the theme, but it can at least beat the boredom if you play for a while, just to beat your scores
This is an addicting game. I just love whacking the birds with stones. I also love how I throw a stone, and then the bird dives and I completely miss. Definitely beats the boredom!
Thank you! The most satisfying is the moment when you kind of learn the timing and manage to hit the birds when they dive. They sometimes get thrown off the screen when hit from very close distance, silly but pretty funny :D/
Very addictive and fun, totally kills the boredom. :D
Thanks! I can't stop playing it myself. I hope to make it even more fun after the jam is finished
Extremely simple game, a whole lot of fun too. The DING of multi-kills and ricochet kills is such satisfying positive reinforcement I kinda chased them a bit. Would absolutely play a version with post-jam updates.
Glad you liked it, I will definitely update the game after the rating period.
The ding sound and a soap pickup was a last-second update, that was pretty important :D
Nice game!
In my opinion it took a little too long to loose though,
i think stopping at 50% would make it a game less about endurance,
and than adding an 'endless' mode, where you can just play around indefinetly.
I agree, that's why I added "Hardcore" mode where it's more likely to end the game faster, but actually, after spending enough time in the game, my single play extended to a maximum of 25 minutes, so cutting the HP in half would be a good idea.
Originally I wanted it to be endless like Icy Tower, there's no dead end in that game until you make a mistake, but I had to make a quick decision for this jam. It will change of course, in a couple weeks. There will be a timed mode and endless, but I need to come up with an idea for a losing condition then.
We'll see, thanks for playing!
Angry birds on steroids! Gameplay is very addictive! Would love a version of this that is story based. Stars with a cave-dweller throwing rocks, can maybe choose the path of religion (magic) or science (tech) to increasingly pick up more and more awesome weapons. On the religious side, his magic eventually takes him to casting daemons and spells, on the tech path he controls drones, orders nukes, etc. I dunno!
Thanks! Haha, that's too much for a simple game :D thanks for playing though!
Good game, great music, the birds really convey their personality.
Just missing a "2 birds, 1 stone" pun haha
Thank you! It's already there on my mini-tasks list =]
Game is very good
As a suggestion you can add stones with special effects
Thanks! I have something similar on the list in a form of timed powerups like auto-return, bounce to the nearest bird, etc. but it's too late for updates
Really cool Game, I really like the soundtrack and that it even recognises when you hit a ricochet. Over all really cool entry :D
Thank you! There was more stuff on the list, but I did not have enough time to add everything :(
Brilliant game! Like..what a thinking! 😂 It has potential if you make it for mobile! Great game!
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind, it would be tough to convert to mobile, though. Maybe, some day :)
Honestly brilliant fun.
