Description
Genre: Orchestral/Fantasy
Its a strong narrative presented through the passing of the seasons. The story features all kinds of instruments and emotions

The story i went with portrays a group of warriors that prepare for battle through the course of a year, in Autumn being the actual battle. And the whole piece portrays the feelings, the struggle, the PREPARATION of it all. The warriors are not from a specific class or type, but i want to convey that feeling of anxiety a littlebit (not super pronounced right from the start at least).ย

The SPRING its an epic speech held by the chief, the leader of the army, hyping the warriors that are about to fight.

The SUMMER is where the training happens, and the blades get sharpened. Like "the epic montage"

The AUTUMN is where everything goes down, all the build up, all the preparation pays off finally, and the battle begins, AND ITS BRUTAL!

The WINTER... is the closure, the battle has ended, but what was the outcome? Did the warriors you imagined won? Or did they lose? What does the piece tell you?ย

Message from the artist:
Trust me, you don't expect what's coming to you!
I hope you like it!

Theme:

Story of Seasons
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Every season its distinct on its own, portrayed by different rythms, and instruments, that hint to the specific season.

Good sound quality and it flows from season to season very well. I like your spin on the theme, but I wish there was more context in your description. And I love that choir shouts, too :)

Developer

Thank you so much! I will add some more description now. I made a whole topic but i didnt knew exactly if to write it or not. I will now, thanks! :)

Developer

Let me know what you think ๐Ÿ˜

Nice one, thanks! It's simple, but I think as a real game scenario could be effective, especially for some kind of brawl/duel game.

Developer

its just a brief sentance that a game can be built upon. I usually dont need much more than that to compose something, otherwise might fall in the trap of losing the bigger picture. I had an image of how this game is going to look, and i just imagined the music i wanted to hear while playing it. And it was along the lines of God of war/elder scrolls/the last samurai/gladiator (and few others) so a STORY driven game... like the music is :) its a good idea when you're composing to over simplify the concept, then all the unecessary details will fall off ๐Ÿ˜ and like you said, its simple, but can be effective... that was the whole idea

I liked the orchestra management and especially the sound of the choir! (How did you do that?)

The arrival of the guitar is quite unexpected and it sounds really good!

Developer

Hey, thank you so much! Well, for the guitar sound you can find detailed information below, i already answered that in detail ๐Ÿ˜ The choir its another story. Well the choir is from Performance Samples Oceania, and from Metropolis Ark 1, and for the shouts i recorded my friends shouting and i layered them with the samples to really make it like an army marching to battle. For the melodic parts there are always at least two melodies going in the same time. And i used some orchestration tehniques to enhance the dramatic side of things. (For example cannon counterpoint). The choir usually carries the tune, but there were some parts where the brass would enhance the sound, as well as the strings in other parts like the Winter season (for example). Then there was mixing, but its just too much to explain there :)) Hope this at least helped you a bit ๐Ÿ˜

Ah ! Thanks, I'll try it !

Hahaha and suddenly I'm on Sceptic Flesh album ! Only missing blast beats and growls frankly. Love the surprise effect (foreshadowed by the daw footage, but still). Your seasons change, but not without a fight.

Developer

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ nicely pointed out! I left the DAW intentionally like that, so people would see that something is going on. But no, not Sceptic Flesh was the inspiration ๐Ÿ˜ it was more like... "i want to add guitar, oh! Right... here would fit nicely" ๐Ÿ˜‚

Like... totally epic sound. But must be hellish year for the seasons ^_^ even Spring is kinda nervous :D.
Orchestration reminds me work of Basil Poledouris.

Good job!

Haha! Thank you! Im glad you saw it that way ๐Ÿ˜† indeed its a tough year. The idea was like prepare for battle ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ˜

Thank you so much! Im super happy you like the guitar's sound. There is a reply to a comment below where i explained in detail how to achieve it. (Of course that is if you happen to have exactly the same gear as me, but in case you dont there are ways around it. Plenty of them even, and i'll be happy to talk them with you ๐Ÿ˜) Yet again most of the tone you hear comes from the bass, which is crazy loud, crazy distorted and super hidious :)) but in combination witht the guitar tone, gives that huge fat ass you're refering to ๐Ÿ˜†

Sounds awesome: such an epic, powerful sound to the whole piece. It also sounds really well mastered and has a real sense of polish: great job!

Developer

Thank you! Im glad you enoyed it! Well, yes becasue i aimed for this level of polish since the beginning, and i stuck to the "self-made" schedule very stricly. Out of 10 days, i could only work on this piece for 6 and only part time. So it turns out it was just enough :) 1 season/day and one day mixing, and the last one mastering.

Nice epic-feeling orchestra! Autumn was possibly my favorite, with it's heavy beginning and the strings leading perfectly into the guitar

Developer

Im glad you liked it! Actually the whole track its kind of a build-up to Autumn, and the Winter being the "chilling" release of it all

Love the layering, I think you could have done even more with it, wish everything felt just a little bit bigger and full! Wonderfully composed and it flowed start to end.

Developer

Thank you very much! ๐Ÿ™ Yes, i have some things i wish i could've done better, but you know how it is... there is always room for more :) might go back to it if they'll choose it for the CD or whatever

One of the best i've heard !
you're gonna have to tell me how you dialled that guitar tone because it's so damn nice !
really awesome

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Im really glad you liked my piece. ๐Ÿ˜‡ The guitar tone its actually a combination between the bridge pick-up my guitar has, and two amps.  The pickup is a super 58 (i have a pretty old guitar, an ibanez rr550) and the reason this matters is because the output signal gain its crazy high right out of the guitar. And the amps i used are Neural DSP gojira set to default and tweaked a bit, and an AXE-FX ultra. Double tracked, and high-mids boosted a bit for the clangy-ness of the pick that hits right on the drums. But A HUGE part of the tone you hear comes from the bass. The bass its pretty loud, and CRAZY distorted, and processed. On its own its REALLY... narly and hidious :))) but in this mix, gives the guitar super heavy bottom. If you have any other curioisties you can look me up on facebook (same name) and we can geek out about gear anytime ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ btw my bass its active, so crazy output signal from there as well :))

How i love those crazy detailed explanations ^^
Thank you a lot :)

I'll prob find you on facebook :)

The sample libraries you used sound great (I like the choirs in particular) and there is a noticeable change in between tracks. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! Yes, my motto is choir & guitars ๐Ÿ˜‚

I really like this and think this is one of the best I've heard so far. I really like the mix between orchestra and the heavy guitar. Sounds great overall.

Developer

Thank you so much for saying that! Yes i wanted the guitars to be the explosion of the track ๐Ÿคฃ
