The narrative in my imaginary game goes as follows:

You play the prince of a nation that recently won a war by utilizing a devastating biological weapon. Although the war was won, the weapon used to win it continued to spread and envelop everything it touched, claiming any life it could as part of its hive mind. The winning nation sealed its kingdom from the outside world, creating a haven for its people and spreading propaganda that things were getting better outside the capital city.

Being skeptical of this, the prince sends scouts behind his parents backs to illegally exit the city and report back to him what they saw. He finds out the world is getting worse. Angered by this, he makes plans to run away from home, see things for himself, and try to find a way to correct his parents’ wrong doings from the war.

The prince’s eighteenth birthday approaches, and every member of royal blood takes part in a ceremony on their eighteenth birthday in which their soul is projected from their body into the spiritual realm where they meet The Guardians of the Crown. One is The Spirit of Valor, and the other is The Spirit of Sorcery. Once set before the guardian spirits, the prince will choose to receive either the gift of strength in combat from The Spirit of Valor, or the gift of prowess in
magic from The Spirit of Sorcery. Many years ago, it was made illegal to choose both, as one of the prince’s ancestors did so and was destroyed by it. Having both powers at once is too much for the human body to withstand.

Knowing full well he will need unimaginable power to destroy the ever-expanding biological catastrophe that plagues the world, the prince plans to ask for both powers even though he won’t survive more than a couple years if he does. On his eighteenth birthday he will receive both powers, then after waking back up in his body he will flee the capital city before he can be caught and imprisoned for breaking sacred law.

“A Decision of Consequence” is what would play while he’s speaking to the spirits and asking for both powers.

“Flee the Capital!” is what would play as he is tearing through the streets of the city, fighting and evading soldiers, desperately trying to get out of there.

“First Gaze Upon Forsaken Soil” is what would play when the prince makes it out of the city and sees the world in shambles.

Theme:

Runaway

How does it fit the theme?

Nice tracks, all of them, very immersive. Great panic theme in Escape the Capital, the sense of urgency is palpable! Thanks for sharing!

Very good! I really felt playing an RPG game. I love these progressions and the fantastic way that you use the strings in the different moments.

Nice compositions, good arrangement, sounds really retro/runescape like (in terms of timbre) really good job on this one !

A Decision of Consequence - Now I don't know if the cover art just primed me, but I immediately got a vibe of something with a hidden dark side. Nice instrumentation on the string.

Escape the Capital - Love the strings at the start. Immediate wake-up call to get ready for battle mode. This is then followed by what just sounds like a great and really tense battle theme. I don't know why, but personally I'm getting more a battle than escape feel. I think it's because of the almost militaristic rhythm and percussion. It feels like we're definitely not purely on the defense. Very cool this theme. Also like that it keeps changing which keeps it interesting.

First Gaze Upon Forsaken Soil - Oh man... this sounds like something was left in complete ruin. There seems to be some apprehension in the sound. It kind of sounds like it may not have been truly intended. Near the end, I get the feeling that someone somewhere is vowing revenge. I really like this one as well.

For me it's a tossup between track 2 and 3 which one I like best. I'm probably gonna go with 3, but it's a really close call for me.

Amazing pieces man!

Thanks for listening! It’s cool to hear that you felt the second track implied some offensive attributes, because that was my intention. This isn’t just a simple sprint to get away. There’s absolutely some blood shed on the way out.

Track 1: This sounds like a track from an old PS2 game I used to play, wish I could remember... Definitely has that creepy-video-game feel. I love a good waltz, and this immediately establishes the theme for the rest of the game.

Track 2: Awesome opening, and great job ramping up the intensity! I can hear the subtle similarities between this track and the first-- somehow they both have that regal, march-ey tinge. I believe it has something to do with these rhythms and the choice of percussion. Good job nailing the subtle details!

Track 3: lovely tone shift here-- this track definitely gives us a cinematic feeling of disaster having struck...

These three tracks tell an amazing story, and have a unique sound that ties them all together. You've done well conveying  emotion, good job-- and keep writing!

Very expressive tracks that have their own distinct flavour, but at the same time are cohesive and support each other in telling the prince's story. Great sounding, well done.

I enjoyed this very much. It gave me a very old school feeling with how you composed it. The arrangement along with the style.  Well written and had some strong feeling associated with it. Great job overall!

Really cool OST. It did a really good job of telling the story through  the music!

Awesome! Thanks for listening

It was really nice to listen to. I could feel how the prince evolves from this bad decision to the redemption.

Congrats !

I appreciate it!

The tracks are really really nice, I was able to envision the story really well together with the music. The only thing I can say I liked less was the fade-outs on the first two tracks, kind of felt like the action kept going without a conclusion at the end. Other than that, it's really good!

Thank you! The first two tracks fade out like that because they were intended to be able to loop endlessly. Those are tracks that would play during gameplay. I gave the third track a proper ending because I was envisioning it playing during a cutscene/scripted moment.

Oh that makes sense, thanks for clearing it up.
