Description
For my composition, I imagined a Breath of the Wild style adventure game. I wanted to depict an emotional scene that would be towards the climax of the game where you finally reach the end of your journey. To achieve this vision, I strove to create a feeling that was a mix between melancholy and triumphant. This influenced not only the harmony, but the instrument choices, the articulations, and impacts/percussion.
I used Studio One for my DAW. For all of my software instruments, I used a mix of Kontakt libraries and Garritan Personal Orchestra 5. The string libraries that I had didn’t have any built in articulations, so I had to automate all of them. For the ambient samples, I recorded them all with my Zoom H4n.
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
When I first saw the picture and the prompt, I was immediately inspired to create a melancholy orchestral piece. The forest setting is what prompted me to record storm ambience into the project.

This was magical! so melodic, soothing and simply beautiful. very well developed track, too. nice interplay of all the elements, creates a vivid picture. Thanks for sharing!
Very calm and melancholic, such a beautiful piece and nice use of the textures, good job! (also I loved the SFX in the background :D)
What a nice sounding theme! It's quite relaxing and the foley helps set the mood quite effectively. Very peaceful, yet engaging.
What a serene piece of music. My heart rate slowed to this one and I just felt cloud-like! My absolute favorite part was the interplay between the short high string runs and the pizzicato strings. These parts seemed to paint the texture of the weather, kind of sounding like sun and rain next to each other. Lovely composition. Thank you for sharing!
I feel like you nailed the melancholy and triumphant combination, this is a beautiful sounding track with a lot going on within its layers while not becoming complicated or impacting its overall sound.
Beautiful and very engaging track!
I loved your use of strings in this, they complimented the woodwind melodies well! A very calm and relaxing listen!
Always bonus points for including ambient background noises! It added to the immersiveness of this soundtrack.
This was a lovely tune with a certain spriteliness to it! I enjoyed the shift to 3/4 time-- these kinds of changes are important to keep interest in a piece, especially one of a longer length like this.
Good job, and keep writing!
