Description
A single track made for OST Comp Jam 5, based on the theme Wish Upon A Star and the accompanying art. I went for what sounded like peaceful piano & orchestral music to capture the vibe of being on a raft out at sea and looking at the stars. There's a slightly more tense part to reflect the additional idea of being lost at sea. The game idea I has is being lost at use and having to use the stars as your guide. I tried to make the flow of the piano part match what felt like a boat rocking, and occasionally getting more intense. Also features an ambient sound in the background made to sound like waves/birds. All made in GarageBand!

Message from the artist:
Thank you so much for checking out my song! I had hoped to do more for this game, but I'm pretty happy with how this track came out!

Theme:

Wish upon a star
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The songs vibe is heavily inspired by the picture, with it meant to match the feeling of being alone on boat out at sea under the stars. Both the relaxing nature of it, and the occasional scary parts. The idea I had for the kind of game it would be is a sort of survival game based around using the stars for guidance.

Very expressive piece with simple elements. I like the rhythmic variation, too. To challenge yourself, try to use some chord inversions to spice things up a bit. There's a clear structure in your track and well recognizable sections. Nice job!

Nice work! I like the way you tailored the music to the narrative of your game.

The rhythm you use with the long beat on beat one gives the feel of swelling ocean waves. The occasional chime makes me think of twinkling stars while the strings are like the ocean. I like the development of the loop with each repeat and I think you do a good job with creating dynamic variation in your piece. Thank you for sharing!

I really like the intense bits, it really helps visualize the feeling of realizing you are lost at sea.

I really like that faster section, I find it very catchy, as well as a nice contrast to the calmer section. Nice work!

Well done! I really enjoyed the vibe, and I love the contrast of slow meandering in the A section to the tense punchiness of the B section.

I like the way you mixed the calm piano/violin part representing the sea/waves and the syncopated rythm giving some tense as being lost in the ocean is supposed to be scary. It makes your song embrace both feelings and gives a good immersion

Thank you for sharing :)

It's a nice track and I think you accomplished what you set out to do with the vibe and the setting I was imagining while listening to it. Well done!
