Description
thank you for checking out my submission for OST Comp Jam #7!

feel free to use my tracks anywhere u want :)

LONG description on the tracks:
(formatted better on project page)

anenomii's melody (menu) :
the main idea i had when first looking at the picture and the description "inside my world" led me to some underwater imagination adventure type of thing. if you played omori (spoilers a lil not really) it reminded me of the underwater section, deep well i think it was called, where it was a cool tropical adventure with all of omori's friends (apart from literally everything else that happened in the real world lol)

so i wanted to make a nice track for the i guess "main menu" of the soundtrack. i wanted to make something nice and inviting for the soundtrack, and pleasant with a lot of smooth rhodes chords, some strings in the back, and that panflute? lead. pretty cool. musically its not too crazy, just a nice calm track that drags you in. like the lazy river at a waterpark. its always there when you wanna chill.

also some playful drums cuz the whole imagination theme and stuff just screams for its use. yk the deal. cuícas and all that.

super proud of this track cuz im not the greatest at mixing but this one actually went well. awesome possum. moving on!

we're all together again! (day):
so once i finished anenome's melodies i wanted some day music. something that would play in the background as you're walking around the underwater city of your imagination...hmm...i hadn't used a guitar yet so i threw some once again nice rhodes chords and that together, with some background layering. and an electric guitar solo because why not. the rhodes chords were pissing me off cause they were nice but sometimes during some melodies they would clash so i had to remove some top notes, but other than that, pretty good, pretty swell.

moonlight minnowz (night) :
so now we already have some day music to start the adventure off going from place to place, doing quests and all. why not some night music to accompany it? it's 8pm, all the cities lights are shining, and its just the gang and the underwater world together as they stumble along their adventure. that's all i really have to say. really nice and comfy track. especially the bass. a good bass always makes the track warm.

everglow valley (deep ocean):
i wanted to make a serene track reflecting on the calmness and beauty some places underwater can be. for example, the jellyshroom cave in subnautica has mushrooms that emit a nice purple glow, and apart from how scary that game is, it goes to show that a track should be dedicated to those beautiful types of places deep in the ocean, at least in this game.

swim and kick! (battle) :
i hastily made this track a couple hours ago just to accompany tiger shark tussle. i lstened to all the tracks in order and decided that a mean track like tiger shark tussle shouldn't play all the time (i originally had it listed as "battle"), so i made this track to accompany the player whenever a smaller foe such as a crab tries to block the gang from saving kelp city

tiger shark tussle (boss) :
we already have a chill battle music for idk lesser threatening enemies. like a crab or something. BUT u can't have an underwater game without a final boss against a sharka or something to complete the imaginary adventure. so for the battle music, some cool strings, some actual drums, all that good stuff. i really like this track because i wanted some type of intense music in there with the words "inside my world" because anything could happen in your imagination, really. i'd like to imagine this track playing while fighting a tiger shark to save 'kelp city' or something like that. just spitballin.

its okay to try again (game over) :
now i didn't really know the original place for this track after making it. i was happy with the product bur it sounded too sad to be a second track to the deep ocean. so i wanted it to reflect something sad, and boom. game over track. sad but encouraging track to let the user know that there's nothing wrong with falling down.

thank you again! <3

Theme

Inside my world
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
for my OST, i used "inside my world" (more towards an imaginative adventure OST) and the water aspect of the photo for the video game's foundation of a deep sea adventure with anemonii, the main character, and her friends. i'd like to imagine it as a playful imaginative story of one's adventure underwater, going from sea cities to underwater caves and defeating whatever stands in front of them. the game showcases how powerful one's imagination can be as anemonii and her friends go on to save kelp city from the evil tiger sharks.

...Do I need to say something now? All the best has been said before me: it's great! I liked the chilly atmosphere of the soundtrack (You made me want to go to the beach, huh)

Thanks!

Some wonderful arrangements here - absolutely adore the approach to layering you've taken. The percussion in particular is really well done throughout - good use of stereo space, choice rhythms and complementary samples. Nice variety in the instrumentation with a healthy mix of memorable melodies and chill underscore. Production was on point throughout, also - great job getting everything sitting comfortably.

I think my favorite of the bunch may be Swim and Kick - the upbeat change of pace in this was a pleasant surprise, along with the brass-like synth work. Closely followed by it's okay to try again - beautiful pensive piece, executed to perfection. Nailed the theme, also!

All in all, this was a super enjoyable listen. Everything is cohesive and befitting of their titles, tracks are all congruent and arranged well. Fantastic work! Best of luck with this, I could see it among one the top spots for sure. :)

Thank you so much! I honestly thought that Swim and Kick wasn't that good compared to the rest, as I kinda threw it together during the last 2 days to accompany the boss theme, but I appreciate you liking it! <3

The whistles I just love, and you actually gave me an idea for a piece I wanted to make, so thanks for that.

Otherwise, really solid submission, with a ton of work in so little time, great job!

I liked the whistles a lot!

Really nice use of panning to fill space and all the songs are really nice!

The chimes in the battle theme reminded me of Terraria Calamity Mod

Developer

Thank you so much! I gotta play Calamity someday, lol. <3

Your music is a lot of fun! It’s happy and mostly chill, it reminds me of GameCube and Wii era soundtracks. I can imagine it in a video game very easily, good job!

Developer

Thanks, I really appreciate that! <3

First off gotta say  A+ for the artwork, and think fiddlersgreen hit it on the head, you really channelled that old school game music feel, fun light, chill but a little bit chaotic,  and then you smack us with the change up in pace and feel when we get to the absolute banger, tiger shark tussle. So so good, was not expecting that! Really great work!

Developer

Thanks! I'm really proud of tiger shark tussle and I'm glad you loved it! <3

It feels like if you took an old school game composer and time travelled them into today, with all of the resources at hand now, and had them write this, which is really really cool. You can hear the you in this. Also, it's awesome that you gave a thought to which part of the game each track is for

Developer

I really appreciate the comment, truly! Thank you so much <3

Loved it! The chords in the first track definitely give off that underwater vibe, and instantly set a really great tone. I really liked the atmosphere and vibe of the night track, your description of it definitely feels very accurate. I also liked the atmosphere of the deep ocean track. The slight distortion on some of the low chords really gives a nice feel. I think my favorite track was the boss theme. Very different in style from the others, but I think it works really well. I loved the dynamic feel of the melody and the slide on some of the bass notes. The last track was also really nice. I loved the melody and chord progression. The somber tone definitely fits a game-over track.

Overall, I really liked it! (Sorry if my feedback was a bit repetitive, I'm not very versed in the terminology of this stuff.) Great job on this. :)

No worries man! Appreciate the thorough feedback! <3

Lots of fun ideas here! I love the different vibes, like the contrast between the day and night music

Right off the bat, the opening to your first track sounds identical to that of Mother Mother’s song “Baby Don’t Dance” which is neither here nor there I just love that band and heard the similarity immediately haha.

These are some really nice little tracks! Definitely getting the island vibes. I’m also seeing some JRPG inspiration as well, Tiger Shark Tussle especially had very Fire Emblem sound to it! Very nice! Overall I think the material was a bit underdeveloped. I wish you’d have gone a bit deeper into some of the tracks and fleshed them out a bit, but otherwise good work!

I just listened to it and that is so weird I promise that wasn't on purpose LOL but I appreciate the feedback! I will say that I definitely burnt myself out in the first couple of days making a bunch of tracks nonstop instead of taking more time with each. I'll definitely work on expanding my work more gradually in the future. Thanks again! <3

Love it, totally feel! It’s sooo easy to get lost in the process, I’m definitely one to sit down at my station at 8am and suddenly it’s 10pm and I have turned into Dry Spongebob 😂
