Description
This is the main theme of a a story-driven puzzle game. The game follows the adventure of a girl, for a lack of a better name we'll call her Red. Red grew up as an orphan, whose greatest childhood wish is to find her birth parents. In the orphanage, she dreamed setting foot to the world after turning 18. Now the day has come, Red will grant the wish of finding her parents herself.
The start of the journey is nice. Red got to interact with society for the first time as an adult with childlike curiosity. But such trait wa not always responded with the utmost friendliness. Red got deceived by malicious strangers to perform unclean, soul-draining works, with the bait of providing trails to her parents. Red soon found herself dragged close (or into) some criminal activity. And then found a criminal group that fascilitates sexual abuse. (Here comes the content warning) By following them in the dark, Red found them talking to a scary man, and for him to look suspicously similar to Red. This man turns out to be Red's father, but did not recognize Red. Red is shocked and did not dare to come out to him as his daughter either. The malicious strangers weren't lying, they did provide trails to her father.
With complex emotions, Red decided that it's not wise to get close to criminals any further, and decided to pursue her mother instead. Through some means the author has yet to think of, Red discovered that her father was a rapist, and Red herself is the result of an instance of his act. Red's mother was too young to know what to do, after giving birth to Red, she drowned herself in the ocean. Upon knowing this fact, Red decided to follow her mother, in the ocean.
Theme
How does it fit the theme?
Ignoring some elements, the image shows a girl looking at the silhouete of a middle-aged woman underwater. We envisioned the girl to be the protagonist, and the silhouette to be her mother, who is dead (because it's a silhouette). And because its underwater, the cause of death would be drowning.

Paired with the short backstory you gave the character and her mother, I think this piece represents that depressing tale quite well. Good work!
The main theme does a good job at capturing the feelings of the game description. I hope you may continue with this post jam (at least the soundtrack), because it's a great start.

pretty cool! wish there was more substance here to listen to, but so far the main theme does resemble what you described the story to be, so i'd say that's good.
