Message from the artist
I made this using Ableton Live + Vital vsti. I decided to go with odd time signature. as it seems easier to make "mirror image" of a drum beat that's at least ok to listen to. I created first simple pattern and went from there, checking out different sounds, to find a proper way. When I got the bass sound down, I immediatly got the "fever dream chase scene" and decided to follow it.

Difficulty

B (Hard)

Make a piece that has the same musical notes both forwards and backwards but doesn’t have to be an identical recording.

Very spooky and the bass really does give that feeling you get when you have a bad fever and can't think straight!

I think sometimes it was a little too heavy and caused some fatigue to my ears really quickly.

Developer

Thank you!

Haha yeah, fatigue is real, I actually felt relief when I stopped playing the loop over and over again. I guess this could work very well for more stressful part of a game and get stress levels up just by getting first notes, but I may have overdone it :D

I think your title for the track really fits it! I liked this! Great job!

Cool effects, I like the organ or what I belive sound like a processed organ, good job, fits well with Spooktober if the intention was there.

Developer

Thanks!

It's not that far from organ. I used granulator preset + meld preset (both ableton live devices) + processing with some effects.

Yea that time signature is trippy haha, fits the chase vibe really well though! I really like that synthy lead/bass and the retro sounding drum samples. Solid work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Retro sounding drum samples are actually retro - they come from Roland R-50e, classic drum machine used in industrial music :D

Ooh this is really cool. I cant understate how much I like the bassline and rhythm. Such a groove. Great work!

Very interesting approach. First thought was, OK this got some beef. However, I feel like something got lost on the way. I think there lies a very cool idea, especially for your drums and bass part (working on those more coulde give you a very sick grove). Also I do belive that some more dynamics (musically and instrumentally) could have benefitted this song more. None the less, you've managed to fit the theme with an very cool song.

Developer

Thank you and thanks for the feedback!

I may save drums (and maybe bass) for later song, glad you liked it!

My dynamics when working with DAW are definitely weak, that's a great catch and a reminder for me to pay more attention to it.

This is certainly interesting. Really good choice of dynamics and texture. Very hectic and spastic in a good way. It's a really cool loop and I think the best Hard mode submission I've seen so far.

Thank you!
