I really like how your tracks are all cohesive, even with varying styles and instrumentation. I particularly like the piano and rhythms in Fair Weather Jaunt, definitely my favorite!
I like the way you’ve evolved the same themes throughout each track, handing them off to different instruments to get the feeling that the story is growing and evolving.
It sounded to me like you had a bit of trouble getting the rhythms to line up perfectly – I can hear a bit of struggle in “Fair Weather Jaunt” where the chords aren’t quite lining up with the melody lines.
The main thing I’d work on here would be to add more sustained chords to these tracks. They’ll help ground the whole experience, giving a frame of reference to let the different emotions of each track resonate more clearly.
Another trick would be to add some extra reverb to each track to unify all the instruments! These orchestral VSTs sound good on their own, but they feel very disjoint from one another, like they’re not playing in the same space. Reverb will help them feel more connected to one another, and give the whole soundtrack a sense of exploration and space.
Really nice string sounds throughout- especially the low ones! I also really enjoy the implementation of the glockenspiel/vibraphone-type instrument!
This OST is the proof that we can obtain something functional with however few means: the instruments are few, two main melodies go from one track to another, nothing is overloaded (I tend unfortunately to do the reverse ^^), so everything remains clear, limpid, identifiable and remains effective for being a game music. Simple, therefore, but which ultimately does the job as well as a big score. What is more, the choice of instruments is perfectly suited to the intended musical role.
I like how the first three start with the same instrument. makes the fitting together although they are different.
Yeah, this sound catch atmosphere of early 90s adventure games pretty nice ^_^.
Props from a fellow vibraphone and glockenspiel enthusiast :)
Love the motif! Very good use of it throughout the OST! You've done a great job developing the theme through to the end. Great work <3
I like the "Determination" track. I love the bell sound :D String parts are awesome too. They make the overall vibe of the music, good job! ♥
Very dynamic and fun to listen to, I really liked the melodies! ^^
You should search/learn about compression so your sounds are more "glued" together, this makes the listening experience smoother!
Great work.
Btw, I just noticed, I didn't get the seventh song "A journey to remember". Did you forget to include it on the download section?
Sorry, just updated the post. I didn't get to start the seventh song (the sixth song is only about 1/3 written!) I included the full track listing just to give a better image of the game concept. Didn't mean to cause confusion.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm not a very experienced producer so I appreciate the advice.
super chill sountrack, really good ^_^
Relaxing, very good :D
I liked the upbeat sound of Fair Weather Jaunt, especially the percussion! Nice job.
