Explain your hypothetical game concept & how you interpreted the theme!
A hero sets out on a path to fulfill their quest. They take their first steps out of their home village and into the wild. They see fantastical things unseen before and encounter dangers new to them. They are unsure if they are ready but nonetheless they persist. They struggle, falter, they rise, they triumph, and the next leg of the journey beckons.

What genre is your soundtrack?
Orchestral

Anything else you'd like to add?
"Hero" and "Journey" are very much fantasy phraseology to me so I went with that. I wanted to stick with the challenge (whole tone scale) as much as possible. I didn't want it to be a side-note, I wanted to be a prime feature. It typically has an air of mystery to me, so I wanted to combine that with wonder to make it heroic and fantastical.

Well done! Definitely the best controlled/treated orchestral VST's I've heard from this jam, strings especially - using different articulations and managing the dynamics really takes a few notes and tells a story with them!

Definitely reached that 'soaring' epicness at the ~2 minute mark. The eagle cry was cool the first time, but felt a little overdone by the 3rd one, in my opinon.

hahaha noted about the eagle 😅. Thanks for the feedback!

MARCH!!1!

As far as I'm concerned, your posting is the best orchestration from this jam among all the postings I've listened to :>

P.S. I love the cover art! How did you make it?

Thanks for the kind comment!!

Omg I’m so glad you asked haha! My partner and I went out into the wilderness (i.e., the city ravine) and took pictures with our dice. It was part of our RPG music pack project that you can find here with many more dice covers!!

Cool!

I myself sometimes walk around the area and take photographs for covers (sometimes)

I like this a lot, parts of it reminded me a little of the Pokemon soundtracks (which I love) :) Love the wind instruments taking the whole tone melody, its a nice gentle but eery contrast to the persistent bass/drums underneath.

Orchestral music is a one way ticket to hero fantasy style stuff, and you nailed it with this one. I appreciated the balanced orchestration and opportunities for different instruments to have their moment to shine! The main melody was catchy and I'm already humming it in my head as I type this haha.

If there was one thing I could suggest, it would be to have a more creative ending that can loop back to the beginning, rather than just fade it out.

ya I didn’t make this as a proper loop track 😞. The idea is that it does loop from the fade-out and onwards.

good job!
