Explain your hypothetical game concept & how you interpreted the theme!
I guess I went to space for this jam, so I made some Mass Effect inspired synth tracks for my take on the OST Minigame Jam. Following the theme of the 'Hero's Journey,' I created three songs, for each leg of the classic structure, all for the hypothetical space exploration game 'Into the Heed Sector.'
'Heed Sector' - The main theme for the imaginary game, with a constant build throughout to simulate the hero's call to adventure deep into the mysterious and dangerous Heed Sector.
'Tribulation' - The battle theme filled with pounding drums and distorted instruments, evident of the hero's many trials throughout their journey through space. This track in particular tackles the jam's extra challenge, using a whole tone scale throughout (specifically the E/D Whole Tone scale).
'Go Home, Someday Soon' - The closing theme for our hero, now adrift in the depths of the Heed Sector, with plenty of synth strings and horns pining to one day return home now that the dangers have been defeated, at the cost of their homecoming.
Definitely most proud of 'Heed Sector' but I'm happy with my submission.
What genre is your soundtrack?
Synth
Anything else you'd like to add?
The second song, 'Tribulation,' was my attempt at the whole tone scale challenge. The entire piece takes place in the E/D Whole Tone scale. I wish I gave myself more time for it but that's past me's fault, not mine.
