Explain your hypothetical game concept & how you interpreted the theme!
While sketching out an arpeggio using a whole tone scale, I was reminded of the item acquisition theme from Zelda Ocarina of Time, so I decided to make a dungeon exploration theme for a fantasy adventure.

What genre is your soundtrack?
Hip Hop

Anything else you'd like to add?
The chords and arpeggios in measures 1-4 and 22-25 adhere to the whole tone optional challenge. IMO, the whole tones worked well for building tension and lent the song a mysterious vibe.

This sounds like it came straight out of a DS (in a good way). Fits the theme, did the challenge, and it sounds good. Nice song.

Nice work! The rompler sounds are great! I remember making a tune with just the sounds fromthe Roland Sound Canvas library a while ago - so much fun, and instantly gives everything a PS1 era vibe :D

Xylophone? nice production and use of atmospheric reverb. Transition between parts is crazy as well. and i do i hear emulation ocean waves, via some sound design technique? Curious to know how your making these textures and sound effects.

Actually gave myself a bonus stipulation for this jam... every instrument and sound effect came from the Korg M1 rompler VST (an oldie but a goodie IMO, though I find myself using the Triton rompler VST more often nowadays). The instruments I ran through both a saturation and a compression plugins while the SFX I simply layered as they came in (with some volume automation for fading out the clockshop and rain presets).

BIT! BARABANES! HOT SYNTHESIZERS! AAAAAH!

Definitely one of my favorites! A mix of hip-hop beat and..... bongos?) Lots of interesting sound design decisions and a very good mix!

Also, damn, you made a great HOT synthesizer in my ears!

Awesome job!

I do love those arpeggios, it definitely creates that sense of mystery like you said. Also like how you brought some lightness in around 1:30 to help release a little bit of that tension!

You did truly bring the heat hahaha, I love the use of the mallets and percussion alongside the more produced elements. My favourite part was the beginning theme, especially where the mallets sped up at 00:09.I feel like you could have even re used some of these mallet melodies throughout if you wanted to for continuity.

I'm usually not too big on hip hop style beats, however the way you mixed it with the electro-orchestral instruments was a great creative decision! I really liked how the song evolved (like a hero's journey) and the outro was whimsical and cute.

If there's one thing I could suggest, it would be to use that bass drop sound less. I think it could make it more meaningful if it was more uncommon throughout the song. You could replace some instances of it with other fun sound effects for extra ear candy!
