Wao lots of efforts have been put in there, this is by far the most comprehensive options menu I've seen this jam.

The jumping could feel a bit better, and for some reason the game wasn't picking up my controller so I ended up playing with the keyboard and it was a challenge.

Overall good metroidvania, I'm impressed by how much you were able to achieve in a week.

Thanks for playing :)

The menu is default menu from the engine BTW so it's not something I've coded in.

Neat robot! I included it in my Palette Jam 2 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

trying to shoot down and to the right while on the edge is annoying, as is the boss not having a clear indication of health, the boss forces you to move around, but your movement speed is too slow, and stay still at the same time because of how shooting works, this is why most games use 2 directional inputs (2 sticks or arrow/wasd + mouse)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the boss require you to read its shooting pattern so you can shoot at it in safe position.

And you can shoot while moving left/right :).

Thanks for playing :)

Pretty fun metroidvania. Took me a bit to get setup since my keyboard doesn't have a numpad and the arrows keys allow movement but not directional firing which was confusing for a bit.

I managed to get myself softlocked behind a laser by dying to it and getting teleported inside the cave behind it leaving no way to disable the laser.

Thanks for playing :)

Ah that glitch, thanks for reminding. I just realized that I forgot to put another switch to open the laser near cave's entrance.

I'll fix that in post jam version.

Interesting story, And i must say i had never heard of OpenBOR before but after checking out what that was all about im quite impressed!

A little note about the controls;
I think you might be checking for input in an "isPressed(up) else-if isPressed(down)" kind of way (Sorry for the bad explanation) where i would recommend checking inputs separately, to avoid your character stopping its movement when you shoot and jump.

 Thanks for playing :)

As for losing momentum while jumping, I think it's because of something else but I'll consider your suggestion.

You definitely know your code best, I'd be interested to see what its like tho!
