Nice intro. The jumping mechanic was also very cool. It took me a few tries to understand what was going on with the crystal and why I should protect it.
Unfortunately, I don't think the game has much to do with the theme.
Fun game, nice graphics and of course the OST! I really like the idea of the slides in the beginning as an intro. I also like the dynamic camera zoom when using these jumping pads.
I suppose adding some SFX for shooting guns and killing enemies would add to the experience or MOOD (pun intended) of this game. :)
But, I am not quite sure how this fits the theme of "finding comfort" though.
A really nice little game. Well done! :)
I guess truely found comfort when I closed it and the music stopped... ^^"
First off, this is a fun reference and honestly seems quite good at capturing the doom feelings in 2D. The fact that you have a weapon switching system really emphasizes this, even if i'm not skilled enough to use it effectively.
However, there's a few things that bugs me, mainly the crystal we have to protect. It isn't necessarly a problem, but the endless stream of zombies attacking it are... There's this nice map with bumpers and cackodemons flying in the sky, and the player isn't allowed to go enjoy them because as soon as we leave the crystal, zombies start damaging it.
Not as important but the limitation on the shotgun's range seems a bit extreme, as is the dezoom of the camera when jumping (this is still an awesome idea, just needs to be tuned down a little in my opinion).
Overall this is a nice game, it feels really cool killing demons while jumping accross the map!
Ah, adrenaline spike! Interesting take to focus on the player's comfort instead of the game protagonist. However, this makes it fit the theme less in my opinion.
Protecting the crystal was an ok goal, destroying the enemies was more fun, though the shooting did not feel entirely right as of yet.
Did you include the actual DOOM 2016 OST in this? I assume do not have the right to use it, so I'd replace it with music that you can legally use after the jam.
I'm a sucker for a good reference, I like what you did there ahah.
Music murdered my ears, but it was fun to play, you did a good job!
I don't think that the game fits the idea that much, but the idea seems to be quite fun. The art is quite authentic, it definitely has a cohesive style.
The main issue for me was the general gameplay execution. Shooting is not satisfying, and the range is quite short for it to be satisfying. I also found micromanagement of all the enemies really frustrating, since if you let the low-level guys go for at least a few seconds, you're probably going to lose. And because of this, the jumping platforms were rendered quite useless to me. So in this regard balancing would be really appreciated. Another thing I found annoying is the camera. The shift in camera zoom is so drastic and disorienting that every time it happened I forgot where my character was. It made me even physically nauseous sometimes.
But otherwise, nice entry
I don't think it fits well with the theme. But it was a very fun game. Well done!

Very fun) Thank you)
The art is not the best.
The fact that you have to defend a stupid pylone is not great in my opinion.
But oh my god I passed 166 seconds of pure joy on this game!!!
