VISUAL NOVEL MINESWEEPER
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
the character mentions it out loud at one point. aside from that, even though you have a little helper, you are literally the only thing that destroys The Danger, until the end when another character appears and sort of takes over. weapons are also mentioned in relation to other characters and them fighting The Danger. i also feel like a wizard is always a weapon anyway due to their use of magic.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
there is a button at the end which lets you take a snap of your character. i'd love to see your wizard pics somewhere in the comments :3

This is a really difficult minesweeper game. But it is so cute. I love the storylines and the art. Being able to pimp out your wizard was so fun as well!. It's really really well done. Loved the video and the pup! I think the minesweeper could use a bit of work, because it feels more random than minesweeper is. Of course at the beginning you can get unlucky, but even after I was doing a good job of clearing, I would still get pretty unlucky due to the nature of having to go from left to right across the field. Got a few cleared, and had fun overall though!
Great job!
Thank you!
The left from right thing is... well, the dog can't sniff with its butt, so you can only see ahead of the dog, not behind 😄
The game does grow harder if you fail, because it re-adds the gnomes that escaped back onto the level,
because i'm evil. But there are several things which can make the game easier:That being said, the hardest level in the middle is the Lighthouse which I fail all the time as well. Just like irl while living in this stupid tower full of sun, which I can't leave yet. The math is story- and irl-based, it's the dark souls of minesweeper. I'll take a look at the other levels' math though 🤔
Yeah everything you're saying makes sense.
I got stuck in the lighthouse so, haha! Again great entry.
Very nice minesweeper game, the character creator was great. I was sad that the Frying pan of doom wasn't available! Maybe I'm just bad at minesweeper, but are these fields a little packed with gnomes for their size? I found myself having to guess pretty often. The world building was great, it was easy to get engaged in the story.
I am sad about the frying pan as well, I added it for a friend and then bugged it 😭 It's very fixable though. I think I'll post an updated version to my website even before the judging period is over.
As for the maps difficulty and gnomes count... I looked up the three classic minesweeper fields for reference to see how packed they were. You can also be a bit unlucky with how a minesweeper game starts, so that's always a thing. But I also gave each map a story-based difficulty. (I myself keep failing at the Lighthouse all the time, but it is indeed a story-based thing). And if you keep failing, it will re-add the gnomes you missed back onto the map, so it gets harder :D
Well done for a solo jammer! Lots of charming art and dialogue with a simple to follow mechanic. The character customizer is great! The nature of minesweeper means sometimes you just gotta guess so can't get around that...or can you? You're a wizard!
It's guessing and a little bit of logic and luck. Also some maps are definitely more evil than others >:-)
This game is honestly really charming. I love it's sense of humor. I think once music is added, the charm will significantly increase. Honestly if you want help with sound design please reach out to me after the jam. I look forward to seeing the finished version :-)
Yippee, I'm glad you like it!
I already have a few ideas for the sounds and I'll attempt to make as much as I can by myself, because that's pretty much the idea which I had for this game - to do it solo and without any extra libraries. But if I run into a wall with sounds, I'll reach out! Thanks for the offer of help :3
