  • GDD: I am very impressive with the GDD, but do wish there were more images of the mechanics, so it highlights them. Glad to see the development timeline has been included, but would like to see more data of the timeline. Game: I opened the game and got an fatal error "D3DXCOmpile failed" in vertex shader compilation at gml_object_o_shaderApply_draw_64. It seems it is an issue with DirectX. So I couldnt run the game. Sadly... So I am rated from the GDD and the screenshots.

Absolutely love it but didnt really understand the difference between yellow and purple shrooms

Developer

hi friend! thanks for playing this little game. means so much to me.  and about the mushrooms, i just made a second color to have variety for the eyes :) Cheers! have a good one!

Art was absolutely incredible. Was it intentional for you to be able to hold click and drag to get rid of mushrooms? The timing window for gold potions felt a bit overly constrained, but I didn't feel it was out of balance, per se, just very very hard to get consistently, best I got was maybe 40%. The writing made me laugh. Good luck!

Developer

thank you for playing! about the click and drag yes it was changed into that because before the players said it's a bit tiring to be clicking individually after a while :) also, i'm glad you liked it! I appreciate it much. have a good day and Good Luck!

graphics are very pretty, music and sfx sound great. Gameplay was actually fun
Only concern was having trouble seeing the craftbar since it isn't that visible when clicking the mushrooms. Other than that really great game!

Developer

thanks much for playing! I'm glad you liked it overall. I hope i can continue this some more, someday. Have a good one!

The graphics are cure, however
The game is too hard - failing to make a gold potion is too punishing

You make potions too slowly, and it feels bad

You can't move the camera while the cook menu is open

When I played it, the cook menu never appeared until I click specifically the top of the bottle, so I went a full playthough not knowing it existed until I read the GDD, and I don't you should be required to do that.

If you make the game a tad easier and fix the cook menu, I think you'd have a cool game!

Developer

Hi there, friend! thanks for playing the game. thanks for your feedback. the potion properties have been rescaled, apple-green potions are no longer too inferior to the golden one, same as the green compared to the apple-green. and gold potions are now more rewarding. :) no longer needs to click the bottle cap too, added hotkey for the potion making. Cheers!

Love the graphics and the music/sfx as well as the potion making minigame. Something I'd say about my experience is that I found the action of clicking at each mushroom tiring in the long run especially considering the screen was always shifting around with the screen scroll while holding the mouse button. A good accessibility option you could implement would be to allow players to keep the mouse bouton pressed to collect mushrooms.  You'd have to rework the camera movement though to maybe put them on the arrow or AWSD keys. Apart from that, I found it quite difficult,  you seem to have to get gold potions everytime to be able to beat it (which I didn't manage to do). Keep up the good work!

hi friend! thanks for playing the game. and thanks for your feedback too. I updated it and changed the camera movement to AWSD keys. also just made it mouse hold than clicking individually. :) about the difficulty, I am still doing balances on it (because it was originally planned to have more items and craftable stuff to help). thanks for the support! btw, I really like your game! very thrilled to see more. Cheers!

Nice job with the new controls, I really enjoyed it more this time! Funnily enough I feel like it needs to become more difficult now. But I would leave that to another level or the extra complexity you had in mind when creating it at the start. One thing that can be good to consider when making a game with economies is the choices you give your player. He has to have meaningfull choices. Right now the best bet is always to try and get the gold one. Maybe if you added different effects, like slowing down the growth without dealing a lot of damage, the player would have to be more strategic while playing. Just a thought!

Wow! incredible polish and graphics! I really love the CRT effect on the screen, it makes it feel like an oldschool Nintendo game!

Developer

hi there friend! I'm really glad you like it. I love the CRT/scan lines on games too, takes us back to the old days. also, still a long way to go but the journey is definitely fun.  big thanks for trying this simple game. Cheers to us!
