  • cool concept for sure, follows the theme in my opinion. personally, i feel like there could be a map included to get your bearings about you when trying to find where the trees not taken care of are, but i believe the number next to the fire symbol is enough in terms of having to stay on your toes from letting the fire spread.
  • This is really decent. I'd personally love to see an evolution of your mechanics, more ways for fires to spread, as well as more ways to fight it. It would be cool to see you impliment real life forest fire stuff into the game. Could be a sort of interesting semi realistic firefighting game to teach people about forest fires.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
You're a firefighter tasked with the protection of forests against forest fires. You'll have to find the fires and shoot them with your water gun. Once you run out of water, you'll have to find a water source to refill your water gauge. You must clear all the fires on the level without it burning more than 50% of the trees. Good luck and have fun!

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?

That was pretty fun, nice job, I feel you probably know you can add a bunch of stuff but the core gameplay loop is very fun

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yes I definitely have a lot of stuff I want to add and will be adding once the judging period ends.

I really enjoyed this, maybe have different hoses like a wide spray as well? Really really liked how well the game works, fits the theme, well done!

Very enjoyable game, wanted it to go for longer honestly, Cute Art and fun

My only suggestion would be maybe a minimap with fog that you can unlock as you walk around. Would be useful to plan the shortest route to a water source or something

Very nice game! The game loop is fun and I liked the artwork as well as the way you implemented sound into the game play. Navigating the the trees was a bit tricky at times which I think can be improved by nudging the player slightly if they collide with a tree to keep the player moving in the desired direction. A mini-map of the water sources as well a visual indication of where the fires are I think would be nice to have. Overall, fantastic work. Well done!

Excellent game design and UI. Lots of feedback and heuristics.

Ok points for the interactive game menu...it's a real thing.

Dorbs gameplay and sound. simple, even struggling to squeeze through the trees was fun.

Can't wait to see what you do with this one.

This is awesome! I love it!

Love the art and sounds for this. I agree with SudoDave's comment that a fog of war minimap or even some indicators would be nice for some of the larger levels. Maybe consider some upgrades to the firefighter as well. Good job 🙂

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Some features are going to be implemented soon to allow a better sense of navigation throughout the levels. It'll help in finding the water sources and give a better field of view. However, the minimap will probably not happen as you often end up looking at it the entire game in most instances. I want to reward exploration and k

That's fair. Looking forward to see what you come up with!

First reaction when playing the tutorial, this game is going to be a blast! Ha.

Here were my notes that I jotted down:

  • Game looks SUPER cute
  •  The knock back is a good trade off of spamming
  • In-game tutorial was well thought out
  • On the UI, it feels like the trees remaining and fires burning could be consolidated closer to the water tank in the top left corner
  • When the level started, it zoomed out to know where the water sources are at least. I spent a lot of time with fires burning, just running through the fires looking for a water source.
  • Minimap for water sources would be nice
  • Lots of expansion could be added to the game. Items, water bomb, call in aircraft backup, larger tank, bigger hose, etc.
  • Events could be added, like lightning causes fire, camp ground burning, rain to put out the fire, etc

Nice job!

Developer

Thanks those are great feedbacks!

Was wondering if you meant it zoomed out when the level finishes or it zoomed out in the beginning for you?

My plan is to probably put river currents that run across the map to better locate the eater points

The lightning idea and more levels are my goals if I continue to expand the game. Check out the game design doc in the timeline section

Sorry, I meant zooming out like the end scene, but at the start, before you trigger the fire. This way, the player is rewarded for remembering where the water sources are if you want to keep the chaos running through the fire toward the water.

Developer

Cool idea! I'll add some features in not too long that are supposed to make it easier to find the water sources. But I keep your idea in mind.

Very fun game.  The only issue I had was remembering where the fires and lakes were.  A mini map would help a lot.  I absolutely LOVE the animations, even the little things like the trees wibbling when you hit them.  The water gun is very satisfying to shoot.  Love it!

Thanks for your feedback! The minimap was considered at first but I felt like it shed off some of the fun of trying to explore the map. If you know where everything is you can just go directly to it and don't have to search. A sub goal was to create an experience where you feel like the character which is in a fire and doesn't necesseraly have a big picture in the moment. That said a minimap to show where you've been could work with the intended goal... would need to try it someday.

Good idea, I think the fog of war style minimap would be great!
