  • I like Candy Crush-esque games. The game is playable and the theme is present however it isn't very unique.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Avoid the Ich is a Match-3 style game where some fish are infected with Ichthyophthirius multifiliis which will spread to adjacent fish. Fish with Ich are unable to be matched with other fish to be collected. While most fish are vulnerable, Eels can be used to block the Ich from spreading, but are worth more points than normal fish when collected.

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?

Extra Notes
This was the first game I've ever developed and it was a great learning experience. I was able to get actual development experience in managing game state, display, saving data, basic settings like volume and screen resolution, basic localization, and control remapping.

I wanted a game I could complete in the time limit and I feel like I hit that mark for the most part. Some initial ideas were cut for time, others when they didn't work out well when tried in the game and there are several ideas for future additions should I choose to continue developing the game.

I also added a bit of a development log to the design document talking a little about my experience in the process.

Thanks for taking the time to review and for any feedback you are able to provide!

A fun spin on a classic. And I really enjoyed the music!

My Pokémon Puzzle League upbringing prepared me well.

Very solid and creative way to explore the theme! As others said I think the next logical step would be to add some sort of item or mechanic that enables you to fight the spread. Could definitely see this going lots of different places but this is an extremely playable prototype. Well done! :)

Great little match three game, well polished and thought out. Definitely would be worth to expand a bit, and perhaps give a way to fight back against the spread, but for what it is, it's a charming match three with catchy music and a fun twist on the typical match three formula.

A nice and clean match 3! The theme is nicely implemented, adding a twist to the well known genre.

Well done for 2 weeks!

That's a really fun game. I like your theme integration idea with the spreading virus. Adds a great unique touch to the 3 match genre.
For your first game, this is amazing. It is nice to see a polished game once in a while. Nice tutorial, btw. :)
Good job!

Nice 3 match game, so can you stop the spread?

Awesome first game. How many new things you learn? Keep going......

Thanks!

In theory, you can surround the spread with Eels, but you will eventually run out of moves. I didn't get to implementing a "shake  up" to keep playing, but I also kind of like the idea of a game with quick rounds you can get in and out of.

Definitely learned a ton about trying to keep the game structured as it gets bigger, linking the systems without making it impossible to change anything, etc. So if I keep working on this, there's likely to be a big rework to start with, because near the end it was definitely "just get it in" :-D
