  • Interesting game, would love to have seen it developed more, but very promising!
  • Decent concept, powerups don't appear to be implemented yet but feel as though they need to be before the gameplay can begin to shine. Lack of audio was starkly noticeable - deafening silence of the void was oppressive.

Awesome little game. Reminded me of flash games from the before times! Also really liked the inclusion of a high score board on the side. Gave me some more motivation to try again and get my name further up the board

It was suitably difficult and I loved the aesthetic. No music for me in browser version though. Unsure if its on my end or yours.

Nice one, though my brain went haywire on the controls as left and right turned clockwise and anticlockwise against my expectations.
No sound which was a bummer.
Some sounds and moer effects to give more game juice would be a huge improvement.
Also the hitboxes were really small compared to the enemies and felt that they were the same in small as well as in enlarged versions making me miss a lot.

Also moving start instantly at same power, a little soft acceleration might be a good thing so that we could tap slightly witout movin too much to do the fine adjustments to hit better.

Game is cool. Hitboxes seemed a bit unfair. The screen is too big with too much clutter, and elements that do nothing. Does the highscore board need to be visible in-game? The ui elements on the top left and bottom left seem to do nothing. Enemies are all the same just with varying sizes and speeds, have some do different movement patterns!

Not sure what the poweups do, if anything. Keep up the good work.

I liked it! It was challenging and fun and was really easy to pick up and play. Controls are responsive and it feels smooth. I really liked the leaderboard to the right, don't know what's going on on the left. Was there any music? I'm not sure it was on my part, it felt awkward without it.

Also, I couldn't find a fullscreen option and it was way bigger than my screen. At least the action happens in the middle, so it wasn't such a big deal.

Overall, I like where this is going. The UI looks retro with the rounded fonts and bright colors, reminds me of those early 90's games. I don't know if you were going for that, but I liked it!

What a game! I really enjoyed it. I had never played a sort of "shooter on-rails" so it was a pretty fun experience! Very polished! Great job!

That was a complete package.  I AM THE COOLBIRD!  I liked it a lot  Lot's of polish.  Well done.

Ok, ive been looking at the scores keeping an eye on them, they were broken initially, forgot a server setting...doh...

It's a bit broken at the moment, but we're definitely going to improve things a little....

Nice game! Simple and fun!

The colour palette and art was also nice to look at!

The radial movement is a great idea, and brings an interessting challenge. Adds a lot to the concept.
It would be great if the movment could be inversed though.

I don't know if this just happened to me, but i started the game several times to check this out: once you fail and hit Enter to play again, the negativ Shieldscore remained. So the first pathogen to break through would end my game.

And my score (860 pts) was not entered into the list?

Really love highscore based game and fun way to compete with other and see how high you can come.

One bug was that when I died the shield did not get back to full so I had to refresh the browser.

Extra power or something would be a fun addition.

This is really a fun idea, and I liked the concept a great deal. I just want to echo some feedback below that if the ship got moving too fast, it became really really hard to aim. Lots of great ideas though, and really nice presentation for only having two weeks. Great work!

I enjoyed this game. Cool art style. Solid gameplay. Got a score of 1505 :D
Wasn't really sure the the infection rates table was for but I assume it might be for some future stuff?
Really cool game overall :)

Submitted(+1)

i like the feel of the UI, very old school. I might in future games better label the buttons in the UI. It's not clear what the ship icon does, for example. But overall well done!

Super interesting! Felt like a game I'd play in a cabinet at the arcade.

nice job! only critique I have is that the shooter moves in too high increments and that makes it hard to shoot stuff right in front of you.

Developer(+1)

Cool....hopefully when i add some momentum to the ship to ease in and out of speed ups n downs might feel smoother and easier for those close shots, although they do make spamming auto fire not so good of a thing in a way so that balance is fine....

I hear ya...ty for the feedback......

Fun game!

Here are the notes I jotted down:

  • I am not a fan of not being able to shoot from the other side full way through
  • Wasn't sure when I could really kill the viruses, they spawn, I shoot, nothing happens, I guess they have to be big enough, but I didn't really know when that was.
  • Upgrades would be interesting too
  • Enemies that spread into other enemies or immune cells that eat other cells as ultra shields, very interesting concepts to expand on

Looks very polished!

Developer

The inner ring was a safe zone or basically with this type of game, spamming the auto fire into the centre where they spawn is a fish in a barrel game.....Was thinking maybe adding and overlay tinto to that central area might be the way to go to give an indication of this......I wanna be subtle, but not too so.....

Had some fun with this arcadey shooter, would be great to see it get expanded with some powerups or abilities to unlock

Developer

Yar yar yar....agree.....definitely.......

I can't get over the backgrounds mesmerizing art and the game is fun with its easily understandable UI. Great job!

Developer(+1)

My brother Kevin does all the artwork for me. Glad you liked it.

Submitted(+1)

Nice! Idid all the art in puppy dogs tails!

Submitted(+1)

That was a fun game! There's a lot of small details in which makes it feel quite polished.

Congrats!

Developer

we are so glad you enjoyed.... we are going to keep going with this one.....

Leaderboard makes the drive to play much more fun - I urgently pushing to improve score the whole time. Very sad when I couldn't see my name on there; maybe it just hasnt refreshed yet.

Developer(+1)

They coming soon, its broken right now which is a bit sad for the jam, but we will fix this for sure. ty

Nice balance on the shooting speed / distance and rotation speed, keeps you always thinking you wish you had _just a little more_ LOL

I can totally see having different upgrades to purchase as you advance through the zones, maybe multiple ships at different angles, moving in opposite directions or different speeds so focusing on one makes you lose track of the other and you can't really control both at once effectively. Keep the "edge of frustration" feel.

And I agree with everybody else, killer title screen effect

Developer

"edge of frustration" feel is def what we wanted......now to hold strong to that and not let power creep in too much ...;)
