  • I see an interesting game, but it didn't really hit the themes for me. I would have liked to be able to full screen this, but esc takes you out of full screen, and not being in full screen makes it a little small for me.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Genres: Walking sim, narrative game

Mechanics: Movement, interaction

Story: The player plays as an adult revisiting their family home. Not all is as it seems. You have to collect photos scattered around the home to piece together what happened, and only then can you help a pair of lovers pass beyond the veil.

Menu controls:
Arrow keys / Enter

Game Controls:
WASD movement / E to interact and flip photo / Escape

Music: Pretty amazing, our audio guy is damn good 😎

Extra Notes
It ended up a lot smaller than we had planned but we all learnt so much! Thank you to all involved ton a for putting this jam together <3

I really like the ambience achieved by this game. The pixelart is nice and I love the interactive photos, they're an interesting way of presenting memories, and get introduced to the story.

In terms of gameplay, I appreciated that the things I'm searching for are clearly visible, and the camera transitions when traveling the rooms are cool, and I like that the house is easili traversable, It lets me navigate it without getting lost. The animations and character movements are very on par with classic gameboy games like pokemon.

Taking into account that this is a game playable on the web, I'd have preferred if closing the photo was another key instead of [esc] because that key also automatically takes you out of full-screen mode (I'd love to be able to play in full-screen, because the ambience is so appealing)

And the music. My favourite part is the music. From the moment the game starts, the soundtrack got me invested. And I like that it's not only good background music, but it actually evolves with the story, delivering the emotive ending along with the release of the song.

Congratulations on a really good job!

thank you so much! We really appreciate you taking the time to play and give us some really helpful feedback!

when it came to uploading the game and playing, we realised that the bug with esc would be pretty jarring for people, so apologies for that one.

as for the story, again, thank you so much. There are story beats missing for sure, but we got what we could in and I’m glad you appreciated it.

I worked on the music myself and wanted to develop a leitmotif that would be memorable and have chores that fit around that. I should be releasing the music on streaming platforms soon, so I’ll be sure to update the game page when that happens :)

again, thanks for taking the time to play and I hope you enjoyed it!

Got goosebumps at the end of this game. Beautiful atmosphere. Well done on the music and art!

It really reminded me of To the moon and Dear Esther. Very impressive given the limited time!

Also: great job on your game design document! Very thorough!

thank you so much. We really pushed ourselves to do as much as we could. I’m so happy you loved the ending, it’s was a combined vision and we put everything we could into it. And to have it evoke emotions from some of our favourite games, that’s a big thing. Thank you for your kind words!

Lovely, sad mood you established. The pixel art is really pro looking, I love the muted colors. The music and sound design are obviously excellent as well.

Thank you so much. We all played your game and said how much we loved it! For art, we used one or two bits from various commerical used and modified asset packs (Character sprite and some of the flooring) and made some of the other stuff ourselves. And music wise, I composed 6 tracks for this, all of which I was incredibly proud of, so thank you for your kind words :)

Woah, the vibe for this is beautiful. A little heart breaking but in a nice way, and I really like your take on the theme!

I loved reading all the little photograph descriptions, and the music / sound was perfect! Not gonna lie, I got a bit choked up at the ending but really stunning. Honestly great job

Thank you so much. This is literally our first game. We wanted to do more with the discovery of items and exploring the house, but time was against us. However, we have a story to tell here, so who knows... we may work on this idea more! Thank you for taking the time to play and take in the experience! much love x
