  • Hello Pirate Jammer, Thank you for the submission. Starting with my experience playing the game. I had a lot of fun and it reminded me of extreme precision platforms. The controls are a bit rough. I had a little bit of a hard time getting it to go the way I wanted. I got hard stuck on level 12. I liked the art and animations. The overall visual design was very nice. I like the music design and background was keeping up the mood well. I’d love to see you all continue the project. Finally, the GDD you made was good but more details would be better. Even if those extra things would have never made it into the prototype You did execute well on what you set out to do with the time you had. Thanks again.
  • Wonderful locomotion mechanics! Was comical and enjoyable getting the gun to move around. Great Theme implementation remix for a traditional platformer. Controls were easy to pick up and fun to master. Great art styling overall and matched the great sound and music choices. The reload mechanic was well implemented, and loved the temporary locomotion freeze helping the player out. Using the mouse was difficult to ensure intended trajectories. My brain is more geared towards controller twin stick inputs for these game types. Mouse management gets a bit too frenetic in tight trajectories. Liked the movement jiggle galloping the gun along to fine tune positioning.

Summarise your game!
Gunbound is a level-based platformer, where the player controls a weapon and moves across the screen using the recoil of the weapon.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The player is literally a gun and moves by shooting

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Don't fullscreen on ultra wide screns or other non 16:9

Had a lot of fun with this! As others have said, there's a lot of similar-style games here but this is definitely one of the most well-polished versions I've seen. Art, music and gameplay are all solid, great work!

The best "You're a gun shoot to move" game I've played yet, very nice job ! And Awesome music.

The best of the many gun shooty games I've played for this jam. The shoot/reload mechanic is so nice. My one gripe is that you couldn't really keep the rotation from beating one screen and starting another. I found myself having to awkardly rerotate so i could shoot back again after every level clear. I imagine you could solve this by having the rotation control not be handled by the mouse but instead something like a joystick

Nice!

Amazing game! Great artstyle, simple but enjoyable mechanics, a perfect bite-sized jam game. Perhaps the spike hitboxes could be a little more generous. Good work!

This was a blast to play ^^.  I would recommend a slow-down effect to help the player line up their shots. other than that suggestion this game was fun and challenging to play and I love to at some point speedrun this game.

A super fun arcade-style platformer! The mouse tracking felt a bit bouncy at times, making some precision jumps tricky, but overall, it’s a great game with awesome artwork.

Very fun arcade-y platformer. I did struggle a little bit with the bounciness of the mouse tracking - made some of the precision jumps rough. Really good game and I like the art.

Damn, that was a lot of fun! Nice artstyle, funny idea, good leveldesign and difficulty progression. Played through all 17 levels. I think level 13 (?) was the hardest. This game has speedrun potential! Speedrun or time trial mode would be cool for the hardcore grinders ^^
Great stuff!

The player shouldn't be shuffling around simply because the mouse is moving by default. That should be a "hard" option the player can select.
