- The "Inscryption" and "Darkest Dungeon" influences on this game were palpable, and that is a compliment! This may perhaps be the most visually uniquely stylized game of the jam with it's heavy tones of magenta and black, interrupted by occasional blue and other colors. I greatly enjoyed the pregnancy progression of our (not so) friendly witch who in general carried much of the game's narrative and gave us a goal to work towards. Having multiple endings to the game was a surprise as well, one that I was very impressed by as well. However, I find it sad that many people will not see any of the endings both due to the game's inherent difficulty as well as the bugs and soft locks that most people will be confronted by. The combat is - at best - unforgiving, especially due to the "corruption" mechanic - a very strange case of "pregnancy as a punishment" that is usually far harder to manage than your health, not that that is easy to begin with. I would greatly enjoy seeing this game polished, fixed and finished - what is already there is great, after all. Plus, I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to Dread Knight or the witch.

Is this game still going to get updates? I absolutely love this game and i am eager to see the continuation of the story.
I hope you update this game it's fun and give a great sense of accomplishment when you get a good deck build.
i love this game if we run into bugs how do we get in contact with you about them and also i have a few ideas to make the game more fun xD its amazing and the inscyption vibe is so awesome, id love to see if you go as far as that game, and if we could support you in the building of the game how can we do such a thing ^u^
any updates planned? i really liked the game ;u;
Updates are most certainly planned yes! The current release is hardly what I originally envisioned XD No ETA though sorry ^^7
I'm glad you like the game though ^w^
awww thank you very much ;w;
I'm really glad you enjoyed it, and yes! everyone swelling up was exactly what I was going for ^w^ tums through defeat, but *more* tums through victory u3u~
You can thank the Isiah Card Game Combat plugin for the actual base coding to allow for such a system in RPG Maker ^^
I'm glad you liked them~ and definitely glad I was able to pull off the Witch as a character in spite of the short amount of time I had originally ^^7
I have plans to continue development of this game with more art (mainly for the endings), more music (there's only one track so far) more characters, and of course as a result, more tums u3u~
Whilst I certainly appreciate the offer, I am the the artist for this game as well as the developer, so unless I break my wrist or somethin, I should be fine XD Again very much appreciate the offer though ^w^
Thank you! Yes! More tums ahoy!
Very cool! Art looks great and the game is super fun to play, though maybe a bit brutal for my tastes. The Inscryption inspiration really shines through, and I absolutely love that.
Thank you very much! ^w^
Yeah the enemies are a bit much, a remnant of my original intent for a roguelite, and also not having time for game balance XD;
I'm glad you like it though ^w^
A very neat concept and very impressive to pull off in RPG Maker! I've never seen a card battle inplementation in it before so it's extremely cool to see. I think I encountered two bugs. The first was that I seemed to be doing the same two screens over and over again. After leaving the table I'd be on a screen with a tent and a campfire, then move north to a screen with one fight on it. Win or lose, when I next left the table I'd be back on the tent/campfire map again. The enemies changed, but hte map did not. The second bug is that after repeating this several times the game froze and hung.
Bugs aside, I have mixed feelings about parts of the game. It felt difficult to play strategically - the combat is very reminiscent of Slay the Spire, but without seeing how much damage is incoming or how much block an enemy has it made it much much harder to feel like I was making meaningful strategic choices. I felt like my win or loss was mostly down to RNG.
I found a lot of mechanics just very hard to follow. I didn't particularly want to go and look up status conditions after battle, especially after I looked up Regen and the Knight just told me "seems self explanatory"
I'm very conflicted over how the corruption and player pregnancy works. Personally, when I play a preg game, I want to make the character pregnant, so when you get pregnant by losing, and enemies make you pregnant in combat and your cards put you back to normal, that's frustrating. Every time I got offered cards or saw a shop I was looking for a card that would boost corruption or something like that but I never saw any ability to do so.
All that said, it's a really ambitious entry for a 3 week game jam! Great work and great potential!
Sorry for the late reply! I couldn't figure out how to get back to this page ^^;
bugs have been fixed in the latest update!
there are plans to add actual numbers! It's just that it would have taken me ages to do in the original release and I very much did not have time uwu
As for the status effects: I didn't want to bog down the battles with explanations for what every status does the first time you encounter it, so putting it in a "book" of effects ala inscryption seemed more fitting. The Dread Knight is less sarcastic though when explaining other status effects uwu
For the corruption mechanics though, the main point of interest is supposed to be the Witch's pregnancy progression, which you only get via victories or a certain Curio (? event). The Dread Knight specifically is just meant to be eye candy to keep the player interested. As for the player in the cabin, I mostly just wanted to have preg content regardless of victory or loss, but you get *more* through victory ^^
Cute cute cute artstyle!!! Gameplay is nice as well, looking forward to da bug fixes so i can see more content beyond tha screen im locked on.
I'm glad you liked ^w^
was heavily inspired by the Darkest Dungeon artstyle if you've not seen it before.
The bug fixes should be out hopefully in the next few days? hopefully.
oooo yes, big fan of darkest's style too with the harsh shadows! very nice!!!
Like this game a lot. Good amount of card options, and good art. Encountered the bugs a lot of others have. looking forward to how this game develops.
I'm glad you do! ^w^
The game breakers (from what I've tested anyways) are fully stomped out and will be fixed in the upcoming bug fix update!
This entry is rad as hell! I love the style and spooky aesthetic, and the gameplay was pretty engaging as well! I'm not particularly good at deck builders (kind of awful to be honest) but I still managed to stumble my way through with only a couple losses.
Really fun entry, great job!
T-Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm not great at deck building either so we're in the same boat on that XD
Thank you ;w;
I would readjust the difficulty of the event battle with the tentacles, of 6 fights I lost within 3 turns either from egg spam or multiple axe attacks 5 times and I haven't won against them once in over 15 or so tries.
I'll definitely take that into consideration. The Tentacle fight *is* meant to be brutal, but getting egged to death is not fair to the player. I'll try and see if I can do something about that for the upcoming bug fix update ^^
all you really need to do is make is so they can't just instakill you in 3/4 hits, they have that egg move and they can all cast it on after the other, just make it to where only one of the tentacles can do that per battle, that way you can focus down on that one before the other 2 and stand a bit of a better chance.
found a problem, the path to the middle can't be passed, there's a log in the way in the third room.
I'd post an image but the site is being finicky.
Yeah sorry about that ^^; It'll be fixed in the bug fix update which is coming soon-ish!
Really amazing game! Def my favorite out of the game jam and I'd love to see this polished and fully fleshed out!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it so much ;w;
I fully have plans to expand upon the game further after the bug fix update comes out, which should be soon-ish!
I can't remember the path specifically, but on a path with a merchant-campfire-combat string, backing up at the combat room (to the tummy scene) sends you one room too far back- letting you spam the campfire, upgrade all your cards... and softlock the game, since it won't let you progress, even after winning/losing the combat!
Yeah I caught that a few days after I posted to the gamejam, and it will be fixed in the upcoming bug fix update!
how are you suppose to pass the number pad puzzle. i did 3 combos. said gardian appears but nothing happens after that..... ? bug or..... also i cant leave other then go back to the witch. stuck
sorry for the late response! Yeah from what it seems it's kinda borked sorry ^^;
I am working on a bug fix update though, and I might have it done in the next few days ^^
its quit alright ^^ thank you
Haven’t played it all the way through yet but this is a really nice game. Really pushes RPG Maker to it’s limits with great art and presentation. And tons of cool mechanics. Unfortunately ran into similar softlocks as others but I feel your pain. I will say it can be tough to plan out turns when you don’t know if your attacks will kill or if you are blocking enough. Also a minor bug with turn ending when you had 0 spirit even if you had a zero cost card. Forced me to make some unoptimal plays on occasion. Also it felt like many of the events did nothing. Enemies attacking first on occasion makes sense in paper due to the ability to roll block between combat but in practice it’s a bit frustrating to enter an encounter and lose half your hp bar. Despite all that this game is excellent. The theming and use of pregnancy works really well. Great work. I’ll definitely come back to this after the first round of bug fixes
Also, you should really add more tags to your game. itch.io is insanely good at promoting properly tagged games. The initial momentum from the jam propelled our game to the top of several of the tags we had set and that helped snowball the downloads. Get all 10 of those tag slots filled!
Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad you're liking it in spite of it's many issues ;w;
I plan on adding numbers eventually to keep track of things like that though!
I'll have a look and see what I can do with the 0 cost cards
Enemies attacking first is a bug rather than a feature, and seems to be a rather stubborn one as well.
Thank you TwT
Also I'll add more tags once the first bug fix update is out! Until then I frankly don't wanna promote it due to how broken it is .w.
The game is interesting, but difficult because of the saving problem. You can only save once; after that, an error code locks the game. I find the game lacking in some areas as well. No nearby health, and only one dread knight gender. It would be cool if you choose to have breasts or not, it will affect the character as well. plus, there are areas where you cannot go and cannot backtrack. The concept itself is fascinating but needs work. I look forward to future games
Yeah I have no idea why the saving issue is an issue at all, but I'll try and look into it for certain!
The health issue might be moreso due to the blocked pathways (it's a bug, not a feature) as each path has it's own eases and difficulties due to the arrangement of events ^^7
As for the Dread Knight, they're intended to be non-binary and are also meant to be visually ambiguous. I might consider the idea, but considering they're wearing a (busted) suit of armour, it might not affect much anyways even if I gave them some? owo
as stated above, the blocked paths are a bug, and not a feature, and once I get to releasing the first update, they'll be fixed ^^
I'm glad you're interested! and apologies for all the bugs ^^;
Would you mind sending me the entire build so I can patch the bugs myself. Or at least, see what is going on?
Not gotten anywhere yet but thought you should know in one of the first areas after the first battle and a questionmark it softlocks because there is a tree blocking the path that you cant cross nor leave where you came from forcing a reload
Well thank you very much for playing ^^ But yeh it's a known bug (known of course *after* I submitted lol), and once the game jam is over, I'll be releasing a fix for it ^^
Glad you'll be fixing it because there seems to be loads of game breakers, a strange black card that seems to have appeared after gaining marrow extractor which does nothing and unbinding at the merchant leads to a freeze "TypeError Cannot read properly 'id' of undefined"and the fights after the merchant also freeze with the error "TypeError Cannot read properly 'lenght' of undefined"
Quick edit: also lovin all the bellies so far just a shame the bugs bogging it down
well the black card after the marrow extractor is certainly a new one ^^7 Will add it to the list!
I'm glad you're enjoying the artwork, and yeh apologies for the bugs ^^7
Anywhere to send a picture of it? Might help
And wondering when the fix should be expected as game feels a bit unbeatable at this point
I think you can just post images here ^^
No current ETA sorry. I don't know when the judgement period is over, and besides that life must go on for me, so... I do fully plan on working on this later! I just don't know how long that "later" will be. Could be a week, could be a month ^^;
Welp cant access any save with it anymore, just getting the length error in any fight where I have it, I'll send a pic if I ever cross it again
Doesnt seem to stop anyone else in the competition, although I dont know the rules whatsoever
Shame it wont be fixed for a while, eitherway, looking forward to what you might create in the future!
yeah it's a real bad bug sorry >w<
I think someone mentioned starting a new save, and winning a fight without getting a bug fixes the other saves? will have to double check with em in the morning for confirmation on that though, but it can't hurt to try as is ^^7
Well it's not just about the rules, it's also cuz I was working on the game for 6-12 hours a day and I'm a heckin burnt out of game development for now ^^;
yeh apologies again and thank you very much!
Looks like that might have solved it, tried a new run but exploded and reloading the bugged saves after fixed it
I’m glad the workaround worked ^^
That is… huh, very strange owo
I’ll definitely have a look when I get back into it ^^
