  • Fun little score chaser, simple but effective! I love the bubble screen transition, that's really cool. To have this done in 9 hours is incredible! With a little more time I would guess there would be more stages with different hazards, which would be a cherry on top.

The Theme
You use an air pocket to breathe under water. Also, the game uses the Game Boy Pocket color palette as a bonus.

hope you take it as a compliment, but it feels like a game i'd have on my phone and would pop on to try for a high score while waiting around for a couple minutes and trying to reach the next point goal to unlock a skin or color palette or some other small reward. i love that the game is simple but the execution is not, trying to maximize your gold to time spent is really fun. i personally don't mind the death ending your run, as it makes hitting a perfect run feel all the more satisfying and if you do have a good run going you might play it safe to eke out just a few more points. i dig the artstyle and the satisfying bloop sounds, and the buoyancy feels really nice. great stuff!

Awesome work! I love the art!
The concept is great and fits the theme well!
I died a lot but eventually I was able to get a total of 4 coins before dying!

I had trouble figuring out how to pick up coins at first but after about 5 or 6 deaths I realized I have to hold space, not spam it.

I felt like the diver runs out of breath too fast.. maybe if there was a 2 second grace period after you run out of breath that would have helped me.  Or maybe if the "air pocket" was more obvious.. I thought it was a cave to avoid.

I felt like the audio was really lacking in this project. Its great that some sound effects are there, but they are a few very undescriptive bleeps. I like the retro vibe, but they didn't fit the rest of the game to me.  Some background music could have helped too.. even ambient waves or gulls, maybe a distant fog horn.

I liked the bubbles that fill the screen when you die!
Really great work on this! Thank you for sharing it with the community!

great game just add music and it is perfect

I really liked this one! The spike cycles were timed so perfectly, I was getting to the surface with the spikes right on my tail! I commend you for the fun, arcade-like, beat-your-high-score game.

The sound that plays when you collect coins as your air rapidly depletes is so ominous! It reminds me of the seatbelt indicator in a car.

This was fun! It was pretty challenging, but every death felt like my fault. I constantly wanted to push my limits and see how much gold I could bring back in a single dive. I love that the game encourages me to optimize my dives, and punishes me for being greedy. It's a good loop.

I would be interested to play a version of this where running out of air (or getting spiked) reset you at the top with a time penalty - I might be a little more willing to take big risks without the threat of a game-over.

I like the color scheme and how you made it match the theme too. pretty cool! I died 10 times before i got the rhythm going

hey, smell like arcade spirit.... I think I would have liked a more progressive difficulty but the idea of the game is cool and invites you to think about other game situations... I really liked the animation of the bubbles at launch
