I find this game remarkable.
The classical mechanics of the escape games are reduced to its fundamentals, which (together with nice graphics) results in a comfy gameplay.
It seems you have achieved an elegant model that can be used to develop larger adventures easily.
Also, I think it fits perfectly the theme of the jam.
The contradictory nature of the ending made me think there was another one, but that's just nitpicking.
Thank you very much for your kind words :)
I love icons because they are a search for the fundamental. The idea of telling a well known story out of icons has been in my mind for a long time. I always felt like it could "uniquelly" exploit the gaming culture but never felt confident enough to materialize it. I am a horrible story teller. The jam filled me out of bravery and I have gone for the concept, knowing that it is not a particularly popular game genre, nor does it have a spectacular presentation. I am very happy with the result and I am enormously glad of seen it understood.
I have to say that the front-end simplicity disappears when you look at the code :D
I really like the concept, and the simple and clean art style! The game looks great.
The solutions aren’t super intuitive. I had to spam every combination at multiple times to get through it. When you try to combine the wrong items, the game always just says “that was close” (huh??), but I wish it would give hints instead.
The ambiance was great, although I had to turn the sound completely off to get away from the droning alarm.
Tricky at first but once figure it out, it all links together! Great art, very well done ambiance. Overall, neat!
