Glad you enjoyed it! And getting stuck on the screen transition is a known bug, just didn’t have the time to fix it :P Will roll a fix out when the voting ends.

I’m glad you liked it so much! :D And I still have a few level ideas in me, I might put those in after the ratings are done.

I tries playing a couple of times, but every time the game crashes after about a minute :(

Pretty fun. The music and sound effects fit it perfectly. The best score I could get is 260 :)

There’s an impressive amount of variety in this game. So many enemies and weapons. Very cool.

I made it to all the way to floor 24 and then a dragon killed me when I was checking on something in another tab. Some sort of pause button would have been nice, especially since the game is so long. Also, the later floors (15+) are too long I think.

Since there’s no official instructions, this is how you play:

  • Press e to place a wall
  • Then go next to that wall and press space to plant a vine
  • Collect the vine when it grows to make more money

Quite fun but it segfaults on the last level :P

This is sooo good! It took me quite a while to understand what’s going on at all. But after that hump I must have replayed it at least 10 times trying out different strategies. So far I managed to survive for 2 minutes and a few seconds. I wish there was an option to scale the window up so I can better see whats going on. But really awesome job with this! Love it :D

The music is also great :)

I really like the christmassy theme. The music and art are great :D

I managed to make it to wave 3 but then I somehow got all the snowmen to gang up on me at once. I also have a weird problem where the camera rotates by itself even if I don’t move my mouse. Resolved it by going fullscreen and hitting escape.

Pretty fun. The music is simple but catchy :)

I don’t see anything weird about this at all. Run of the mill snake game.

It’s quite satisfying and relaxing, in the same way as something like Power Wash Simulator. Because of that, I don’t think adding the scoring system was a good fit since it encourages you to rush instead of relax. Some chill music and satisfying sound effects would have been great.

Is there any way to win?

Very cool! Reminds me of Baba is you. And the last level almost fooled me :P

Incredibly atmospheric and tense game. I was on my toes the entire time. I also like the premise. It seems heavily inspired by Iron Lung. The low framerate, camera glitchyness, low-poly aesthetic really sells the idea that we shouldn’t be where we are (I think the inconsistent movement is a good thing :)

It would have been nice to have some sort of radar. Because I spent a very long time wandering around and looking for the last landmark.

Wow it even comes with a software rendering mode! Sick! :D

For example, if I draw all graphics to a 256x256 framebuffer, and then scale everything 2x or 3x so that it fits into a 512x512 or 768x768 window. Is that allowed?

Thanks for giving it a shot! And that’s a very impressive first score, congrats :) We are definitely considering fleshing the game out into a full release :)

Most of my playtests were also done online. I built a Windows desktop version of the game and sent it to friends, and they streamed themselves playing it over discord.

I also think you can publish the game to twitch in such a way that only certain accounts can access the game - that way you can have it be online without actually submitting it for the jam.

But I also saw a lot of people submitted their games early, and kept updating them before the deadline.

Update: it works now! And it’s a pretty fun. The concept of manufacturing a near cataclysmic event just to generate more funding is hilarious :D I hope I get around to trying multiplayer.

I’m also curious, does the game get harder over time? Because it feels like I could keep going forever.

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback! I’m glad to hear that you still enjoyed most of the game despite the genre not being your usual choice. Congratulations for beating it with a trackpad as well! I playtested the game with a trackpad a couple of times myself, to make sure it is still beatable in that manner - I glad that payed off :)

The levels are short enough that they can be beaten by luck. But having longer levels would have been quite frustrating due to dying in one mistake and having to replay the whole level.. I’m not sure what we could have done about that. But I would love to have a suggestion :)

And as for the intended level solution:

SPOILERS

None of the playtesters found the solution. It’s one of my least favorite levels. Usually we try to make the intended solution significantly easier and safer than a straight up fight with the turrets, but fighting the turrets here isn’t much harder..

Thanks for playing it and for your feedback :) And that’s an impressive first score! most people that playtested got 60-100 deaths :D

May I ask how the capture wasn’t registered if you remember? Did you hear the sound and visual effect for a successful capture but still got hit by a bullet? Or were you unable release a bullet after a capture?

This was really fun! Even though I think it was a bit too difficult to control the character, all the levels are short enough that it never got frustrating. The music and sound effects are a really good fit for the game :)

I did find one block on level 6 that sometimes randomly killed me when I stepped on it for no reason.

This was interesting. I’ve also never heard of a game like this (there’s probably a niche for it! :P)

But I think some more feedback on the actions would be good - as well as a tutorial level or two. I also would have liked to have a pause button so I could plan out my actions better, although I’m not sure what level of realism you were going for.

I also noticed that every time I play, the 2nd 3rd and 4th plane always all want to go to the same gate. I think a complex collision like that would have been best saved for some of the later planes, after players get to grips with the mechanics.

What a well crafted concept! The mechanics are all simple and easy to grasp separately, but they play off of each other really well to create complex puzzles. The tutorial levels are really well made. And watching my solution play out when I finally get it is very satisfying :)

Some music would have added a lot to the experience I think. But considering you were working alone, and how many levels there are, this is super impressive! :)

Oh wow! This is awesome! :D The game feels super good to play, I never thought a baseball game could be so fun. I wish there was some sort of scoring system.

Congratulations on your first fully finished-and-out-there game! :) Balancing is definitely tricky.. I think the best way to approach it is to just have a few people of various gaming skill levels play your game as you watch what they do. That’s not only great for finding a good difficulty balance, but it will also help you find other things you might not have noticed. Good luck on your game making journey! :D

Well here I am again, trying to play it for the 3rd day in a row now :P I get frustrated and quit every time, but I always come back anyway. There’s definitely something here, I really hope you fix the issues because I would love to play the finished version of this! :)

That’s really a shame. I saw that half of the floor lights in the UI were never used. Managing scope is difficult. But next time you’ll be both faster, and also better at judging your capabilities :) Good luck! :)

I’m glad you still found it fun despite the difficulty. The timing window for capturing bullets is definitely quite tight - it’s actually almost frame perfect if you stand still and let the bullet fly straight towards you! That was definitely a tough parameter to tune and I wish we had time to add difficulty options and balance around them.

Thanks for your feedback! If we decide to flesh out the game, we will definitely consider adding difficulty and accessibility options.

Thanks a lot! I actually spent a ton of time tweaking that to make it feel as good as possible - it’s very encouraging to see it noticed :)

I really want to like this game. The blob and music are so damn charming, I want to cause some mischief with this sewer blob - the atmosphere feels perfect.

But the physics are so glitchy. Pretty much every time I interacted with the physics system it broke in some way. I was teleporting all over the place and getting stuck in objects. The game is completely unplayable basically.

It also feels like the controls have a mind of their own. I want to go right, but the controls start moving me to the left out of nowhere.

I also saw some graphical glitches where tiles weren’t aligned properly and I could see a line going between them.

I think this has the potential to be amazing though!

I feel like this game embodies the theme best of all of them. I also really appreciate many design decisions you made, such as not having a restart menu but just keeping the whole thing flowing when you get hit. Feels like a lot of love was put into that.

But the level design is not great. The difficulty ramps up too quickly, and it’s also so difficult that when I manage to beat a level it feels like it was more due to luck than any skill.

It’s so simple, but the art and music make it quite enjoyable overall :)

And I can already think of so many little additions you could make: maybe you could add black holes / white holes, or moons that unpredictably orbit a planet.

Ok, that explains a lot :D

I didn’t even notice there was a score :P

Well I played through it a couple more times, and I also noticed that the combination of low fog distance, and the way levels are generated can lead to impossible situations. But I’m happy to hear that you’re gonna work further on this - It could be a really nice mobile game if you iron out the kinks :)

The controls feel floaty. It takes so long for the character to stop moving that for a while I thought you just couldn’t stop :P

But once I got used to that, it’s pretty fun to try and outsmart the pigs. I think the AI works really well - I always feel like there’s an opening somewhere, but at the same time I never feel safe.

This.. feels different.. the music, aesthetics, and enemy design make this feel so otherworldly and mysterious. I want to know more about the world this game is set it. Where does this even take place? What does the mage want?

I can’t say I like the gameplay side of this too much. But the strange mechanics just add to the overall feeling of mystery. This is the most unique entry I’ve seen so far IMO.

I also appreciate all the cool visual effects that you made :)

This feels very well crafted and polished, especially for a 1 week game ;) Awesome work! The music and sound effects are especially pumping :D I just wish there was a bit more of it.

It feels very relaxing. The music is super chill :)

The collision detection isn’t very good though. Sometimes I just die for seemingly no reason, and other times I hit a block head on but don’t die.

You’re right, insane mode is exactly that. Nice :)
