This is my favorite entry of the jam so far. It is such a faithful little GameBoy action/platformer! My only complaint is the controls feel almost "too good" with some subpixel precision and smoothness that is slightly jarring. But that is easy to overlook when everything else about it is this good.

You've got many types of enemies, you've got multiple sub-weapon powerups, you've got different levels with different aesthetics and killer chiptune music! You made a freakin instruction booklet which is something I've always wanted to do for this jam and never had time for.

Great work all around, top marks for Era Feel, love it, followed you, can't wait to see more of what you do

Ok, the best game of the jam is terms of Era feel, in my opinion. regardless of what many people say, one of the worst aspects of old games is how unfair they are and how they just tell you fuck you and start the game all over again because you suck at this. To be honest, I think this game is more fair, and it's very good, but I don't think I will finish the game, I got the the temple's boss, lost, and I was took back to the beginning.  Maybe that was the last level or I was close to beating it, idk. I still think it's an amazing entry tho.

Heh, sorry man that was the last boss.

nice, if you add a save system and new levels, let me know xd.

I just released a new update that added a password system and a more forgiving game over (no longer takes you to the start of the game), so if ever you want to take another shot at it...

i'm taking another shot xd

Hi again, I´m sorry, it toke me this long to replay the game, I'm awful. I just played it tho, and it was very fun. Let me know if you publish a sequel or plan to make similar game.

this is very cool and super accurate to the time period, i could see myself finding this on a gameboy cartridge i picked up from a retro game shop and not think anything of it. the sounds, gameplay, and graphics are all exactly what would be expected from an old gameboy game, i think it's really impressive how accurately you were able to capture that feeling. the gameplay is fun and very challenging, and i love the enemy design. nice work!

Feels super authentic with unforgiving and sometimes even frustrating controls, as well as the way the enemies spawn and how they can respawn if you just pan the camera over and back again. Really good job. I wish I were better at these kinds of games to give better feedback, but the gameplay seems solid. And you included a manual. That hit me right in the nostalgia.

Feels like an excellently-made hybrid of Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania. Your player character controls well, and rushing through the levels feels fun with how fast they move — though, I do wish you could control how high you jumped by holding Z for a shorter or longer period of time. The levels are well-designed, balancing tricky platforming with enemy-focused challenges and separating the challenging bits with parts where you can rush through and acquire spirits. I found level 2 to be the hardest, especially with its tengu boss, though the Kirnos in level 3 are certainly the toughest regular enemies in the game — and the boss of level 4 makes up for the level being slightly disappointing in difficulty. The background music for each level is good and fits the Game Boy aesthetic perfectly. Overall, a great entry with only a few minor flaws. If you extend it, make it more difficult, and release it as a full game, I'd be interested in buying it.

cool Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden vibes, nailed the game boy aesthetic quite well!
