the atmosphere was really great! Maybe I just need to get good, but I found this to be an absolute labyrinth. I found the key by happy coincidence, but after about 15 minutes of wandering around was never able to find the find the door it unlocked (I found it near the beginning, but couldn't find it again.)
The visuals were great, loved the old-school look to them.

Nice work!

I loved the atmosphere! Reminded me of old first person dungeon crawler games like "Ultima Underworld".

The gameplay is alright, but it took my ages to find any spiders.

I enjoyed the main menu art and music, but it didn't match with the game.

I also noticed a bug: When you keep walking over a spot where you collected a key, the sound effect plays again.

Thanks for playing!

The old first person dungeon crawlers were actually a huge inspiration in the initial idea.

Unfortunately due to some bugs the spider spawning wasn't working perfectly as intended but, it still somewhat worked.

The menu art was kinda rushed so i didn't really get time to properly figure out a style that would fit with the rest of the game. (It was also made rather early in development)

I'll definitely fix that bug if I decide to continue working on the game!

I played your game on stream if you'd like to see my thoughts:

Thanks for playing! The player collision is a little weird which is why you got stuck trying to fit through the door. It completely skipped past me in my testing. The pixelated graphics was intentional. The game was inspired by early 2000s/late 1990s dungeon crawlers and I wanted to try and capture the graphical vibe of those games in the limited time that I had.  I also understand that it initially wasn't very clear what the goal was and I will definitely fix that if I continue to work on this. I also plan on making it easier to navigate through the rooms because it is very easy to get lost. There were multiple spider evolutions that I had implemented but the first one only shows up at floor 5, whereas I should've made it floor 2 instead just to make it more clear.
Once again, thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback.

Great job! I really liked the art style. The only thing I had trouble with is not dying lol it seemed like they always bit me even when I attacked first (but granted, I'm not really good at aiming and reaction time isn't my strong suit). I also liked the tight winding corridors, they really added to the atmosphere

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the art style. I do understand that the combat system wasn't the best. It's the first time I've made a game like this. (Technically also my first game too). Making the corridor generation was definitely my favourite part of development, so I'm glad you liked it.

Really nice entry! I loved the retro visual style. The player movement is fluid, and the sound effects fit the game perfectly. It would have been fantastic to have a WebGL build as well :D. But overall, great job!

Developer

Thank you for playing. The retro style was quite fun to make and I'm glad you liked it. I would've liked to make a WebGL build but unfortunately I had no idea how to even make a windows build so I had to learn during the Game Jam. If I continue working on the game I will definitely look into a WebGL build.
