Great entry for the jam. I think this was my favorite game :)

Those damn bugs eating up the crops :(

Besides that the game was quite therapeutic. Guess i should of used the pesticides however i was trying to grow organically lol!

The object selection was a little bit tricky using the mouse wheel as others have mentioned but a like all the ideas and features you have put into the game.

Nice job though.

Really fun game, I liked the idea of evolving crops! The art is lovely, and the game is feels very polished for only a week's work

Thanks so much!

I played your game on stream if you'd like to see my thoughts:

Hey man! Just finished watching the section of Cropolution in your stream.
Thanks so much for taking the time to go through so many games! It was REALLY interesting just watching someone play it and how differently you did things compared to me.
Loved all your suggestions (improving tools, sprinklers, being able to purchase higher level seeds) - would liked to have been able to add those things in if I'd had more time!

Haha sorry to disappoint you about Gamepad support. Just wanted to point out though, that in Cropolution if you hover your mouse over the items you'll get info (like descriptions, sell value, whether fertilizer was required to grow crops etc.) - which can let you better plan your buy/sell strategy. Glad you found the fast-forward button Though!

And yea the song that played in the main game was just from a music asset pack like you mentioned. Not sure where you've heard it but I'm sure it's been used in lots of games before. Though my son did do the music for the main menu! (Also to answer your curiosity at the end, Nikki did work on this with me as she did all the art (except for the Genie's character obviously.)

Glad you enjoyed it! I'll be playing Butterfly Effect later on today as I finally have time to sit down and get through a whole bunch! Cheers and thanks again, the stream was invaluable.

Pretty sure you were the one who recommended the Universal Music and SFX pack in your top 10 assets video, which we got at your recommendation, so that might have been it if you got it from there. We went through tons of songs just sampling them to see what would fit and that one stood out in memory.  It's funny cuz, in one of those same packs, they have the death fanfare used in Rune Fencer Illyia as well.

Also, looking forward to your feedback on Butterfly Effect.

The game is so challenging in the early phase.  Got me so frustrated when the wave of insects first came in xD

I DID IT!!!!!!! THE FINAL EVOLUTION!!!! GIGAFRUIT!!!! GIVE ME A MEDAL!!!

For anyone else trying to finish, it took me 5h 30m to finish this. The evolution requirement is exponential, you'll need 2^10 = 1024 level 1 seed to get the final one. Also need 512 more to buy those seeds.  Do not wait to sell high level ones as the price goes down drastically. Selling level 1 and 2 are optimal.

Selling price for every evolution: 4 ,9 ,16 ,20 ,48 ,72 ,112 ,214 ,366 ,600 ,1000

It was fun and additcive!

Developer(+1)

lmao omg that is a LONG time! Well done!! And thanks so much for playing!

The sell price for everything shows up if you hover over the items in the inventory with your mouse (I forgot to put that in as a tip :( )
Cheers and thanks for the feedback!

The idea is fun! I enjoyed it otherwise, but it was very tedious to select the item with the scroll wheel. I wish I could've clicked the item I wanted to use, or use number keys to select the items.

Thanks for hosting the jam!

Yep I agree, thanks for the feedback and for playing!

Interesting game. Very original take on the theme too! This one also felt quite polished.

The UI with the cursor on the tiles around the player character was also well made.

Thanks! Really enjoyed your title as well!

Very well made, The avatars are used in an innovative way as well, Liked it a lot.

Developer

Thanks! It took quite a while to get them working in 2D actually. Though I eventually learned you can use Unity 'Recor' to export frame-by-frame images in PNGs which I turned into sprite-sheets so they'd be affected by 2D light. It was my personal mission to not make a 3D game lol!!
Thanks for playing

Awesome take on the theme! We love the artwork and the gameplay loop. The music fits the game really well. Navigating the item menu was a bit tricky at first because we kept trying to click on the items to select them, but once we got used to using the wheel, everything fell into place. Awesome job!

Developer

Thanks! Yea the controls were something I would have loved to tighten up a bit with a little more time. Thanks for playing!!
