The idea of having more enemies was bizarre, and I thought it would be a good game once it was adjusted. The music on the title screen was very strange, and I found the world interesting.

Developer

The music was me trying out Bosca Ceol for the first time so XD

I'm planning to adjust the game speed after the jam.

Submitted

The game itself is good and the concept is nice, but everything is sooo slow that I get bored easily, and you are not encouraged to attack enemies, really. Nice game overall :)

Developer(+1)

I intend to speed up the gameplay and add some adjustments when the jam ends.

Hopefully it'll make it feel better

Really interesting game ! I like how you use the theme of the jam for clone the ennemies each time they time, it's very intelligent and it's add a challenge. The graphism and the sound design are also very cool. For me the only default is that the controls are a bit too low

Submitted

Curious! Apart from being able to mostly afk through most of it it's an interesting take on this season's jam.

My suggestion is perhaps more pressure to kill enemies?

Developer

One thing I intended to do but never got to it was make the enemies decrease your score when they pass the screen. Then each time they clone the amount they take off your score decreases.

So you're encouraged to shoot them but make sure not to go overboard unless they completely fill the screen and you got no where to go.

Maybe this with more speed might add to the fun factor

The core gameplay idea is awesome and really addicting, probably more akin to a puzzle game than a shooter. There just lacks an objective and urgency, no real difficulty apart from how much you decide to risk shooting large waves, making it more a test of patience. Surprisingly really fun, good job man!

Really cool idea and concept are and gameplay really good. for feedback maybe make the clones vary in speed to spice things up :)  but well done good game

Developer

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe each clone could have a different ability and score hence there is a risk/reward system in place.

Thanks!

Most of the people already said what needs to be said, I'm guessing that it feels slower than in you editor is because of the framerate difference, make sure to make stuff framerate independent and you won't have that problem in the future, cheers!

The game visuals are good and the idea is fine (balance the shooting because it creates clones), the main problem with it is it being very slow. I would up the speed several times in order to achieve a much more pleasing game experience. Good job submitting though.

Solid space shooter just don't ignore the recommendation of full screen mode on browser

Submitted

Yeah, it feels a bit slow, but with a little polish can improve a lot, otherwise, nice work

Really like the fx for when the eyeballs explode! The movement felt a little slow, but maybe I was missing something.

Developer(+1)

The movement was too slow. Somehow the speed in my editor was way different than after the build.

I'll balance it out in an update after the jam.

The gameplay is pretty decent. It took me a while to get a hold of how to play.

While the player feels a bit slow/heavy, the cloning mechanic being used on the enemies is pretty interesting. However, it does mean that the moment you clone “too much” you get walled in with no escape.

Developer

I'm planning to fix the player movement speed thing after the jam. And maybe cap the number of clones one enemy can make. Or figure out a way to add more juice to it.

Submitted

I think everyone else nails the feedback to be honest - it's slow and clunky, but the cloning mechanic is interesting :) the music needs a bit of work too, it's really harsh.

I think it would be improved 100x if you made everything move about 10 times faster

I feel like the goal of the game isn't really clear, as you can't really lose unless if you decide to.

Developer

I just wanted to test the concept of making the enemies clone instead of the player. I had intended to add more strategy requirements but I was in a crunch time so had to leave it as is.

Submitted

The menu is not that appealing, the sprite of the spaceship is really in a different style that the eyes, and the missiles you shoot destroy your missiles, the same ones. You can have really broken scores by spamming your slow missiles before the first enemy even spawn

Developer

The art doesn't really follow what I wanted it to be. But I'm not an artist myself so I had to make do with assets I found.

The missiles that destroy each other were actually intended in a failed attempt to force the player not to spam shoot in the same place.

I could probably fix the score exploding by capping the score multiplier per clone but the idea was to make it rewarding to keep shooting clones for the extra score.
