what a pleasent elastic octopus game :P
cool idea! the stretching of the octopus looks very nice
The gameplay's cool and unique. both art and music were great, it would be great if it was available for mobiles.
Yeah I've got a mobile build ready, I just wasn't able to debug it during the jam. I'll upload it once the jam is over.
I love the sound effects and the stretchiness of the octopus! Really fun game. As previously mentioned, I did also have issues with the mouse going outside the game window, so I couldn't fully stretch the octopus for some jumps, but overall good job!
Intuitive and solid gameplaey, great game! I would play it on smartphone)
One of my favourite games in this game jam. Everything about it is great. 10/10
I love this little octopus and the bouncy sound it's making. Sound 5/5!
Such a fun game to control, along with the great art and sounds made it a blast to play!
Really enjoyed playing the game. Some small feedback:
The objects that stop you from flyying should stand out just a little more because I confuse them.
As soon as I try to go faster I can't because if the octopus is on the side trying to pull further at an angle the mouse goes outside the game
That was fun! The choice of an octopus for this kind of gameplay is original, although you don't really feel like being in the ocean.
Pretty nice game! Launching yourself by stretching is really satisfying and it's fun to see how high you can go. I also like how the camera doesn't start moving until you get to a certain height because it took me a while to get the hang of launching myself and it would have been a lot more frustrating if I had the threat of the camera hanging over me while practising at the bottom.
The main problem I have with the game is that you can only stretch as far as where you click and where the end of the game screen is. It can get really annoying when you're near the bottom of the screen and you can't stretch out because it just stops as soon as your cursor goes outside the game bounds. Maybe it's better on phone? On browser at least, it's killed me more than a few times and it can feel unfair.
Other than that, great work on this! :)
You can click and drag anywhere in the screen so if you move the mouse back to the middle after every launch you should have plenty of room. But yeah thanks for the feedback! One thing I've learnt from previous game jams is to give the player room to practice before pilling on the difficulty. You tend to get quite good at your own game while testing it over the jam so you always think it's easier than it actually is.
Yeah, but even a little bit of extra stretching room would be nice.
That's pretty wise! When you've tested your game 100 times over the course of its development it becomes all too easy to fall into the trap of making the game too difficult for people who haven't played it before.
took me sometime to get used to it. but after playing ....Loved the game. And what i really like about this is .. on every new game the level is different.
Really cool, this was fun! I bet the controls feel fantastic on mobile, but they also feel fine playing with a mouse. The stretch and stick octopus sounds effects are really satisfying!
Pretty fun! Another game that I probably should have played on mobile. I think a few adjustments to the graphics would make a huge difference, primarily the walls and maybe a little more “watery” feel. I thought this was great and it was honestly fun to play. Also, I love the name very much.
