This entry shows a great concept, but I honestly think it's not really well executed.

Waiting for the input to register then update the image is entertaining at first, but it quickly become long, especially if like me, you missed some intersection in the path. You can also do several movement before updating the image, and that way you can avoid some scares entirely. You also can't rotate in this game, I think you did it by design but the environment feels like it should be explore with a 360 degrees view and not just stuck in one angle, the only moment where this work is during the long "BEHIND" corridor, but it mostly just impede the field of view.

So, in my opinion, you should be able to rotate and the image should update itself after each movement, and the whole process should be quicker.

I commend you for releasing an original entry, but in the end I didn't have much fun with the game, even if I really tried to.

Thanks for your criticism!

This is one of my favorite entries in concept and execution, the whole idea of moving a small camera or robot into a deep dark cave system, is so claustrophobic but interesting at the same time!

The whole aspect of limited movement has always fascinated me, not knowing where you will be, having to make sure every step you make is carefully calculated, maybe even having to make a map, is all so interesting to me.

The ambience and the darkness behind it are fascinating, to be honest I enjoyed this game quite a bit, would definitely come back for more!

The absolute terror I went through playing this. Moving and knowing that if you want to know where you kinda are, you must to update the image. The brief moment of not wanting because it might be better not to see it than see, but knowing you can't really blindly just move around either. That brief moment of rendering the image was always just like the worst horror experience for me. I love it. It executes this concept perfectly. My only complaint is that I was completely lost at points with the movement and where to go (it was around the boxes lol) because at first I thought the camera angle moves too. Regardless this, this whole thing, love it. It was immensely terrifying experience and I dreaded every moment of it, I'm absolutely in love with the concept of this. Great work!

There's things here I absolutely adored; the whole found-footage-y CCTV aesthetic is really powerful, and you definitely know how to use that in a way to build some sort of anxiety. Sound effects really helped give a real sense of space as you moved around; as far as putting yourself in an environment, this project does wonders.

With that said... Some things stood out to me, stuff like there really being no *reason* to not just update the camera after every step; while it adds some character to the locomotion in the game, it feels like an unnecessary step, imo? That, and things mentioned elsewhere in the comments, stuff like lack of communication during the panel. Still, considering those are like, my only big issues with the game, I'd say you did a great job! Would absolutely love to see this expanded one; definitely gonna keep an eye on this team's work, moving forward.

Thanks so much for your response! a lot of the problems you've mentioned are going to be fixed in an upcoming patch, after the jam. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much we can do about the camera part, as that's an integral part of the game. We'll keep making games (at our current rate, one will be out next May)

Cool game! The controls left me kind of disoriented, i did not know where i was headed most of the time, but i really liked the idea. Had me feeling uneasy. Good job!

Great mechanic used here! Looking forward to a future version with more of this world, would be nice :)

I defiantly felt quite uneasy through the game.

the concept is really original but i'm stuck in the hall activation some.. panel? don't know what to do next :(

Developer

The controls pause briefly upon activating the panel. Once the audio finishes you should be able to move again

i meant i dont know what to do like i didnt notice any changes

Developer

Oh, my bad! You just return to the starting point from there

Developer(+1)

That's one of the biggest criticisms we've received. We'll probably add an audio cue at the entrance post-voting period (otherwise we'd get disqualified lol)

really unique and good sound design, pretty immersive too

This was a cool concept! Maybe some way to interact with the environment would give the experience more depth.

I thought the concept was really strong. It was a little difficult to understand how I was moving when I started. At first, I thought I was on a tank sort of control, so moving left would make the treads spin in opposite directions to make me turn left. But then I discovered that it's sort of like a translation to go left. But then I got stuck in a corner, and I couldn't get out. Cool concept, but I wish the animations were a bit faster. :)

Cool mechanic. The delay of seeing where you actually are has serious horror potential. I kinda got stuck bumping around into things before I gave up. Wasn't sure where to go.

Developer

I found when testing it that just moving until you hear the "bump" and then readjusting your course eventually gets you where you need to be. It's definitely worth sticking it through to the end

Brrrrr reminds me of games like Myst. I was sooo afraid of those kind of games back then and still am

Developer

I started getting that feeling in the final stretch of development for sure
