Hey SSO & ShatteredReality!

Cool little submission with a fun and unique art style!

A couple notes after playing:

  • I didn't run into the monster that much, I did have to go seek it out but it took a little bit because I think he was walking in the opposite direction of me the whole time -- haha. Not that big of a deal. I was just expecting him to hunt me down and try to kill me
  • There were a few times where I ran into strange colliders on the trees. Most trees I could walk behind, but then there were some where I wasn't able to walk behind them. Again, not a huge deal, just thought you should know!

What I liked:

  • The art style was really fun! I liked the hand drawn aesthetic. It added a ton of charm and I just wish there was more, but totally understand the time limitations
  • I thought the fire mechanic was really cool! I loved that I could be a fire bender and hunt down monsters in the dark. Like others have said, it would have been really cool to be able to set the trees or branches on fire in order to channel more energy. Very cool mechanic though.

Totally understand the feeling of not feeling like you achieved your goals prior to the deadline, but it is super impressive that you made a game in a week, released it, and now can get feedback and learn from the whole process! Great job :D Can't wait to see where y'all go from here.

The art was good, and the mechanic was interesting.

Good submission, glad I got to see it even if it's incomplete.

Developer

Thank you! It was a struggle and I'd even go as far as to say that it may not of even been released... Glad we got it out, though!

The artwork is great and i see a lot of potential. Keep working on it!

Developer

Interesting idea, thank you for that.

I like the power up and shooting fireball animations. walked all around, didn't seem to run into anybody.  do the trees set on fire? that would have been cool :)

I loved the theme and the concept of staying alive in the dark forest. I believe that it would be even better if the control settings and interaction mechanisms are improved.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, I hope you enjoyed the game!

The art is fun and the atmosphere was creepy, I did not understand the progression tho.

Developer

Me neither...

We too had problems with source control (our โ€œintegrationโ€ guy was not there the last day, it got messy :p). The art is cool, and I was impressed by the trees fading to not hide the character when you walk behind them !

Developer

Source control is super helpful when it works!!!! I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, though. I know how much it hurts :(

Thanks for the comment about the trees (and other scenery) fading out as to not conceal the players position, that was my doing. Glad you liked the game... What's there anyways.

I like the art and visual style.  I'm a little confused by the fire ball mechanic and what I should do as I walk around, but I think there is a start of a fun game here!

You can point the camera in the direction of which you want the fireball to go to. You gather fire (your health and ammunition) from campfires to shoot at the monster but be cautious as when you shoot fireballs, you also lose health.

I'm glad you like the games art and stuff, though. Me and Jay, the other programmer had strange issues getting version control to work for around 2 days so working on the game was a struggle!!!!!

Oh man, I totally hear you on version control!  Sometimes just getting the basics out of the way can be so challenging!  I'm glad the too of you stuck with it and completed a game for the jam!  Great work!

Developer

Thank you!
