Really enjoyable game, glad I checked this out. I got the leave ending which felt a little ‘empty’, but for 7 days work I think you’ve done a great job. Well done! :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! And my biggest regret was making the ending as short as it is.

I made a video of your game.

Developer

Just saw it on the discord, Thank you for making a video playing it!

Cool game! Awesome maze design. Although they were maze-like, it seemed they always led me back to where I needed to be. I liked the colored sections and although its a small change, it makes a huge difference for having a small sense of direction and keeping it fresh between areas. The box save points were a cherry on top! Well done.

Developer

Thank you! The colors were originally used for testing specific areas before the doors were implemented, then eventually became part of the maze. I'm glad to hear it was a good idea to keep them!

Great Game! I love how the experience and the "unknown factor" with the creature throughout

Developer

Thank you!

Nice game! I actually was scared playing this!

Developer

Thanks!

I like the concept and the characters. Simple but effective and I have a soft spot for cats, so I'm an easy target. I said the same thing I said when I played the much more expensive game "Stray". Cats do not make noise when they walk, they are like ghosts. Dogs do, as usually you can hear the claws clicking on the ground. I would have choosen a much more soft sound for the steps, maybe the rustle of the bakcpak. it is the sound you will hear for all the game and it become very abrasive very fast.

P.S. I choose to stay.

Thank you for the feedback!

I didn't put much thought into the footstep sfx, i just thought "metal floors (described by the last rat) + footsteps = a hard noise" but you're completely right, and i should've listened to the sounds of my cat more when developing!

Nice game! Sadly there's no music but that fits the game ig. Also, the end was a bit anti-climatic, but I enjoyed it!

Developer

I did consider music, however I was racking my brain and i couldn't get anything atmospheric enough, I would always rather have no music instead of unfitting music, at least for horror games.

I also considered adding more for the endgame, But time sadly caught up, making it feel unsatisfying.

Good to hear you liked it though!

I loved this experience so much. The perfect amount of tension, beautiful storytelling and art, creative gameplay. Well done to everyone involved!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Good game, I really enjoy how tense it made me. I am curious if the inability to talk to the creature again after first denying it is intentional, it gave me the impression I could save on my way back to the beginning and initiate the other end by just talking to them, but that could just be a poor read on my part. Regardless, still a fun experience.

Developer(+1)

I think you discovered a bug, could you expand what you mean by "inability to talk to the creature again after first denying it"? Good to hear you liked it though!

When i reloaded the game at the third box that i saved at while making my way back to the start, I tried to go back to the room with the creature to interact with it again, but the game wouldn't let me.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for telling me, i think i know what happened,

The clickable part on the creature is auto disabled to prevent it being clicked through the door,

Only after the last door infront of the creature is opened/clicked, the creatures clickable part gets enabled, however the door isn't there after loading,

Leaving the creatures click part disabled when it shouldn't be.

Should be an easy fix 👍

I'll make sure it's patched when the jam allows me to upload a bug fixed version.

Glad I could help some!

Developer(+1)

Should be fixed now, lmk if there are any issues!

I'll admit the game spooked me when I saw the red eyes flash when I got to the fourth section of the maze. Then, I was like, "Let's get outta here quick!" and tried to finish the game as soon as possible since I thought some mysterious creature was going to jumpscare me and give me a game over. That didn't happen, but it also resulted in me not finding all of the notes and the poor rats that were trapped in the maze.

It's a nice game overall. I'll have to replay it to try and get all of the collectibles, but I bet that I'll get spooked by the red eyes again.

Developer(+1)

I knew that would get someone!

I'm sorry to hear you felt like you had to go through the game ASAP and didn't get to experience it all in the first run though,

But I'm glad to hear you liked the game, have fun replaying it with different dialogue options and getting everything! :)

Awesome submission i really did enjoy the hunt for random items and trying to memorize the maze. I do think there is room for improvements It felt like i was just looking for key after key with no real reward or end game. Maybe some sort of objective would assist. The sounds are awesome, however the cats font could be changed to something a little more readable since it seems like a story based game it was often hard to read some items. Overall good submission I enjoyed it.

Developer

I agree, I've never done a jam so short before so I tried to limit my scope as hard as possible, Resulting in the lack of objectives, lack of unique parts per area, lack of any music, and regrettably just making the "fun" advancing the story.

I also thought about the readability during creation, i didn't think of it as a massive issue at the time but i definitely should have at least replaced the font to maybe a serif or created my own.

Thank you for leaving a review and enjoying my game, and I'm glad you enjoyed the sfx!
