I loved how you could see the previous user's spiral into madness and presumably what caused it. It gives the game's universe a fleshed out feel. The assessment at the end got me very scared to keep going, and ive gotta say, it definitely got my heart pumping ngl! Mother of all viruses!

Developer(+1)

I'm very glad to hear that!! Thank you for playing!

Fun interaction, nice doses of humor in the retro internet. It took me a couple tries to find the ad blocker. The present audio was really effective towards the end. I really liked the visual tricks when picking the moods with the faces, it had a lot of style and got my heart pumping a lil bit. The story telling through the browser history had me intrigued and thinking about how else you could explore the narrative through the computer. As some others said, a bit more player direction would be welcome, but this also feels like something that benefits from the mystery.   Nice work!

I'm glad we pulled the humor off, didn't want it to subtract from the horror aspect of the game. Thank you for all the feedback!

That was pretty effective! I liked the viewpoint of being outside the monitor, the voice was really spooky and the images were properly unsettling. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Im very glad to hear, thank you!

This game fuses quite a few genres that I enjoy seeing in horror games - there's the analog horror genre, with its Assessment Examination style menus, and the desktop simulator. Similar to something like Hypnospace Outlaw, I like how you enjoy playing around with the dated UI elements and poking fun at the design. Placing the interactive computer in a 3D space also adds a sense of immersion to the game that I liked. In terms of constructive feedback, I liked the subtle storytelling through the browser history and think that could be explored more. How does the narrative connect to the mysterious assessment at the end of the game? I note that this was both a collaborative effort and what looks like a first foray into creating 3D games which is an enormous achievement. Great work!

Thanks for being part of the Scream TV jam!

Thank you so much Ryan for playing and for the great feedback! The assessment at the end is called  an "Ekman Test" and they are done to children to see if they can recognize emotions. In this case there was supposed to be a voice line where the computer, once he is faced with his reality, asks "Please, show me what it is like to be human", prompting then the final assessment to show him what emotions are, for example (and ideally more children development tests if we had had enough time :P). Nonetheless, thank you for the detailed comment and feedback, it was great fun participating in the Scream TV jam!!

I like the concept of the game, it has some serious potential to make a good horror thriller game! I have to agree with some of the other comments, in that the Ad blocker app needs to be more obvious to obtain. Beyond that, I think it was a really nice/creepy experience! Good work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! Yeah we are aware hahaha, but thanks for the feedback!!

I was quite confused as to what i was doing or where I was meant to be in order to progress. I didn't know the ad blocker button was where it was and had 2 playthroughs without getting to it.  Maybe a notification overly on the browser to let you know it has been installed there?
I quite enjoyed the aesthetics with that retro horror vibe and the soundscape (while some sounds where a little overpowering) really brought the horror vibe. The humor was good and not so silly as to pull the horror vibe away.
All in all a solid jam submission!
Good Work!

Yeah we had some time constraints and werent able to put some of that QOL feedback when you successfully make progress, but thank you for the constructive criticism! Im glad all in all you enjoyed the game :)

Really creepy stuff, at first I thought the infinite pop ups where the entire game lol Im glad I went digging in the comments to find out about the ad blocker app.

Developer(+2)

Yeah it can get confusing.. thank you for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Cool concept! I like the aesthetic of the game and the popups are quite funny.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! A bug fix will be released really soon which will greatly improve things!

Submitted(+2)

I really dig the aesthetic of the whole thing! I'm excited to see that patch, I'll hold off on doing my rating till that's out so I can get to all the content! I think I may be getting the bug because I'm clicking the ad block popup and it's just not doing anything until my screen is full of ads

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! I'm really glad you're holding off, the patch should come out soon! The ad block popup downloads the app, it doesn't activate it ;P

I liked it, super creepy and I loved the voice. Was originally wanting to do something similar to voice our game but the time constraints made it so we couldn't. Great atmosphere, definitely should've had a trip sitter beforehand.

Developer(+1)

Hahahaha thank you so much!!! :D

An interesting concept! You executed the interaction with the PC really well. The experience of having your screen slowly fill with pop ups is honestly kinda nostalgic

Developer(+1)

There are still some bugs with the interaction, but I am glad to hear you enjoyed it. I have stated this in another comment but we look to release a patch tomorrow fixing the majority of bugs (some of which lock some content out). Thank you for playing and thanks for the comment!

Very cool concept! Love the humor within the game. And the hidden mechanics for finding clues.

One piece of feedback is that it’s hard to read some of the popups and browser history with the filter, so perhaps increasing the font size on those will help.

I hope you can add more and finish the game someday!

Developer(+2)

Thank you! Yeah we are thinking about releasing a patch soon fixing most of the bugs (which, in turn, would make the last part of the game accessible since there is a bug that currently doesn't allow it).
