This was cool! The end gave me shivers and goosebumps. I liked the lore, it created a world in a short amount of time. Would love to see this expanded  ☺️

Such a great idea! I wasn't very good at screening, but I found myself wanting to interview more characters and just play more of the game. Very well done on the ambiance, set, and sound design, I got genuinely scared when the last candidate appeared! Would definitely play again if y'all decide to keep working on it. :)

This was such a fun game! I ran through it a couple of times and got sad every time it was time to run. Great job guys!

This game was truly excellent, so glad I got to it before the voting period ended. The aesthetic was great, the game mechanics of testing people was fun to engage with, the creepiness of the people interviewed and the things to look for was cool, paired with having to enter the room  of the person you're interviewing which could end up being a threat. I even was sold on the guy from the announcer box--sometimes people do the 'guy who doesn't want to be there giving you the onboarding' thing and it just comes off as annoying or awkward, but this was done really well.

It even ended with a chase sequence. I knew that circuitous path at the start had to be there for a reason!

I think the crystal was hard to read, like I think it was showing me some people had extra shadows, because for one person it didn't have nearly the same trouble hitting the wall and floor around the person, but I couldn't really parse it. Also there were like 6 different things you could categorize someone as, but the only direction I got for identifying any of them was the pulse jockey's, because of the abnormal heartbeat. I don't think it's that big of a deal, but I could see that being adjusted to good effect.

Excellent work, you have much to be proud of!

Yeah, we definitely ran out of time before we could put mechanisms in the game that could communicate exactly what each tool does and what the symptoms imply. It's on the top of our list to clarify the game systems for a post-jam release. Thanks so much for playing, glad you liked it!

This one was really good and has a ton of potential as a full game!  I liked the mechanic of giving the player various different tools to detect things.

Developer

Thank you very much! We honestly wanted more tools, but we were restricted by time.

Thank you for playing! Appreciate it!

OHHHH my goodness! As someone with like 150+ hours on Papers Please i LOVED this one. I thought the gameplay just worked, and the aesthetics were amazing.  Best game of the jam so far in my opinion. If this became a full game I would 1 million percent buy and know a lot of others who would too. Always nice to see another Godot dev :). I loved how fleshed out the universe of the game was and thought it was so cool! The chase sequence could have been a tad better, as it kinda just felt like a brisk stroll over to the panic button, but the sounds the monster made and looking behind me to see it did get me feeling spooked. This could be a banger markiplier video. 10/10

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! Godot solidarity! Yeah, the monster chase was thrown in at the last second for the purposes of having some sort of ending, didn't really have too much time to tune it; it's on the list of things I want to clean up. Super pleased you enjoyed it!

I like this one even if I didn’t get the theme at first, but it is screen right ? The text was a bit long at the beginning but ok, would be better with voice acting as the story is good. The mechanics with the clipboard are cool, I had to retry to increase the found complications and see the consequences. Then the end worth it, love it ! Great experience that kept me playing longer than I expected.

Developer(+1)

We took the theme of "the screen" as a screening process. Glad you liked it! I hope we can keep working on it and put together a more complete release after the jam!

Very enjoyable and I like the story and the "Paper Please" gamepaly a lot. Very good entry and very ambitious! Well done!

Thanks Duck! Currently installing Windows on a laptop to give yours a try!

I swear, I get no money from Microsoft to convince people installing Windows on their machine to play my games! :

This was an absolute blast for a one week work, thisis really impressive. I loved everything about it! I'm not easily scared but the overall atmosphere and the spooky designs + Sound Design made it really creepy.  I also loved that our choices have consequences. I should have listened to the chattebox cause I had no clue what I was dealing with lol

It would be even greater with voice acting though :)

I'd love to see a full released version, I'd even buy this kind of game!  Great Job!

Originally I wanted to voice act everything through a talk box, but time constraints stopped us from getting to a lot of the sound implementations we wanted to do. We really busted our behinds for those 7 days to put this out.

I'm working on a manual the player can use to read about the different tools and threat types now, but it'll have to be a potential update after the jam of course :) glad you liked it!

That's good to hear ! And, eyah, I know that 7 days was not easy to make everything we want. For our game it has been the same. We came up with 7 levels ideas to set up but had the time to only make one and it's not even as polished as we wanted it to be but anyway it was a great way to learn where our weaknesses are, and our stregnth too.

If you want one more voice for your game, you can call me, I'll record it fast :)

The atmosphere is really cool. The clipboard mechanic was something new and cool .Gave it a five star rating would be great if you did the same :)

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I really liked yours when I played it yesterday!

Submitted(+1)

Wow what a cool atmosphere, setting, mood, premise, everything is very intriguing. I really enjoyed my experience with this. The clipboard mechanic was very cool and I had fun filling it in and making my own decisions. The characters coming through made me laugh and feel uncomfortable at the same time. The writing always felt engaging even with just the tutorial text. Overall, very polished and stylish, wonderful work!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! Was worried the speakers were droning on a bit without saying a whole lot. Glad you enjoyed it!

Dude, I was left wanting more!

Love all the detail that was put on the writing and the art direction, loved the entire experience! Hopeful to see more of this!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! We're gonna keep fleshing this out and implement more of an actual story post-jam. Multiple days, more content, etc. Keep your eyes open!

I played this game drooling for 40 minutes. And this is a jam game. This is nuts.

Developer(+1)

Thanks man! We really put in the hours to crank this out lol. I've been sleeping all day to catch back up.

Great atmosphere and cool game mechanics, it reminded me a bit of Portal and of course Papers Please, but in a very original way. Also, I love the way text is rendered in dialogues!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, Papers Please is an obvious inspiration here. Funny story, the text generation was actually an accident, but I kept it in because it looked neat. Thanks so much for playing!

Submitted(+2)

There is a fair amount of content here for a weeks worth of work. Very nice.

Developer

There was a lot of developed content that we had to cut from implementation due to time, hopefully after the jam we can get some of that implemented. Thanks for playing! Loved your game!

Submitted(+2)

What a vibe! I loved the little radio and the writing. I could see the story evolving into something really cool from there. I guess it is not the most spooky game, but I honestly liked that because I am not that much into stressful horror and more into the atmospheric and story-driven stuff. Keep up the great work!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! I hope we can flesh it out after the jam and add multiple days and build out more of a continuity. We definitely tried to focus mostly on the creepy atmosphere and writing versus being traditionally scary.  Hope the chase scene at the end can get some heart rates up though!

Submitted(+2)

Really cool idea! Wish the screen had more to do with the game given the theme of the jam, but a good game is still a good game lol

I really hope you take this idea further and actually make a fully fledged story out of it, there is definitely some potential with this!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! We interpreted the theme as a "screening", as your job is to filter out threats. Glad you liked it!

Ohhh I didn't even think of that, good stuff lol
