That was pretty well put together!

I like how you've presented the game. First thing I see before I even start the game is the cards and that had me quite intrigued and high on anticipation. Mouse speed seemed a bit high though or maybe that's just me. I liked the creature design of the first monster and I liked the concept of not running when it's nearby though I think a bug stopped it from working properly. The spiders were really interesting in this genre and I love how it  makes use of tension induced by the mechanics. I also really liked the slushing noise of the abominations in that claustrophobic cave. With more time I think this could be an interesting game.

Nice entry!

Great game! The atmosphere is really creepy due to the horrifying monsters, sound design, and lighting. I thought you nailed the amount of lighting, it was real scary creeping forward and slowly being able to make out objects through the trees but being unsure what it was. I also really appreciated your use of checkpoints because I felt they made a hard game more forgiving. Only suggestion would be adding a little more feedback on death, even killing the player movement script would help.

Nice work!!

Enjoyed it, scared me more than id like to admit! very slenderman. One note tho, in the first area is the red devil guy supposed to be static? otherwise very cool

I'll get through the negatives really quick, because I have a bunch of positives afterwards. The dying mechanic just seems a little off. Like I'll be moving and maybe have a decent indicator that there's something behind me - then it'll just say that I'm Dead. With no accompaniment or measurement of progressively dying, just being dead right off the back just seems... unwarranted? And sometimes the respawning is a little broken. When I died in the first area and respawned, I was stuck in an endless loop where the creature was right at the spawn with me and constantly triggered the death state.

Now let's get to the positives. A massive round of applause to your sound designer(s) and character designer(s). The sounds kept me captivated from beginning to end and the stingers were well-placed and kept me right on my toes. And those creatures... I wasn't exactly sold on the first one, but when I saw the spider coming right at me and that sick abomination in the cave. Oh yeah, you had me after that. Well-done. Gameplay also felt fairly good as well. Walking and running felt okay and I never felt like I was walking in a bunch of circles to find the next objective.

With a little bit of fine tuning, this probably would've gotten a perfect score. But for now, it was just shy of perfect. Well done.

if you have time and a chance to check out our game jam game, Black Blizzard, I would greatly appreciate it: https://itch.io/jam/screamortality/rate/978095

This was really thrilling, especially the spiders coming at you during the second phase. I thought the checkpointed respawns were a really smart choice, as I felt like I could keep exploring all this game had to offer immediately. Sometimes the deaths feel a little random, but the enemy cards on the game page go a long way to helping the player figure out how to stay alive. I love the atmosphere and the monster designs were very creative. The abomination was a shock the first time I saw it coming towards me.
I think the stamina for sprinting is a bit short and its hard to tell when I've used up the sprint or I need to go looking for a lantern refill. I guess you could make the argument that its adds to the horror that you could run out at any moment if you're not careful, but I think it also harms the immersion to have the player wondering about this stuff instead of just playing. The lack of cursor also made it difficult to pickup the keys at times, as i didn't really know where I should be pointing the camera. But all in all this was a great little horror game!

Thanks for playing the game and give us feedback! Maybe we got a little far from UI things (for sprint or pick up for example) i totally agree with those points. I am glad you enjoyed it, congratulations over Watery Graves also, i enjoyed the experience there.

very creepy! great monster designs both visually and gameplay wise! Definitely did not like the Ear dood appearing behind me all the time and the spiders darting across my screen and screaking gave me chills. Very cool. Unfortunately got bugged after I got the last key. I died and ended up inside one of the ear doods and just dying over and over. Will definitely have to do another run to see the ending. Nice work! It was a joy to play!

Anyways thanks for playing, means alot!.

Thanks a lot for playing it! You are right about that ears monster, it was difficult for us to keep it "balanced", we wanted to give that chase experience but sometimes was a bit bugged when too close sorry about that. I am glad you enjoyed the game, i played and rated Watery Graves, awesome work!
