Really cool graphics and audio, very atmospheric! I was a little confused by the gameplay at times

Developer

Thank you for playing! Can you tell us what could have been done to make it less confusing? I mean, yeah, we had to cut some ideas off that could have made the gameplay different, but we appreciate the feedback!

Also, thank you for hosting this jam, we very much enjoy it! <3

Very nice game, cool athmosphere :D I hope you continue working on it after the jam ends !

I love this game! It fits the theme very well, and the music and sound effects create a dark and spooky atmosphere! I find it impressive that you made this in only 48 hours!

Thank you for playing! We came across some bumps in the road before deadline and had to cut some things short, unfortunately.

So awesomely atmospheric! The lighting, audio, story, and particle effects all come together to make this super spooky and engaging. As some other commenters have noted, I think some sections could be made a little more intuitive, but overall this is honestly fantastic!! Great job, guys!

Developer

Thank you so much! We had plenty of ideas but hade to cut some things short, unfortunately. Glad you liked it!

Amazing for something made within 48 hours, great job

Thank you so much! There were some issues we absolutely would have liked to skip as we got closer to the deadline, but yeah... We appreciate you playing and commenting!

The game looks awesome and the sound design is also great. The gameplay is good, I like how polished the text feels. I especially like the sequence where you have to hide.

However I felt, that the game does not communicate some things well. I got stuck at the fox, for a good amount of time. Other than that, the game is great!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! The fox can be at bit bothersome, but I understand you got past it. I guess there is a fine balance between making a game where the player wants to keep trying and a game where the player gives up. :) Thank you for playing our game!

Great Art and Fun Gameplay! Can you play our teams game?

Developer

Thank you! Of course!

Nice game! The pixel art was incredible, especially the main character animations; how many of the available 48 hours did you spend on that hair? :P
I also liked a lot the sound effect: the walking sound helped a lot with the perception of what was happening in the scene (along with the "evil" particle system) and that's a great solution for a dark game.

I think I missed something on the mechanics: the dialogs suggested me to look for something in the dark cloud, but I found myself stuck in it. Also, when I discovered that the lantern stopped the evil, I continued to switch that on without any costs; is that supposed to happen?

Sorry for the questions, but -again- great submission! :D

Developer(+3)

Thanks for a nice review :)

Well, the idea is to force the player to execute some well-timed dashes and flicking the lantern on and off to both avoid the evil spirit and the horse at the same time. So the lantern doesn't cost anything, it just prevents you from dashing and jumping which you need for platforming and for making it to safety when the horse comes.

About the hair... I (the programmer of this entry, but usually an artist) was supposed to make most of the characters and animation work this time around, but I only managed to make the horse and the idle animation for the main character before we realised I had to focus almost exclusively on programming instead. So, what happened was that with like an hour or two to go Ulf had to create the run, walk and jumping animation for the main character. So, the hair was actually rushed! But I agree, it looks amazing and Ulf did a phenomenal job :P

Surely one of the best of the jam! The last part was really challenging, but it was so satisfying reaching the end. Art, music and sound effects are top level, great job!

Developer

Many thanks :D I'm glad to hear you pushed through and made it to the end ^^

Developer

Big thanks!

The art, audio, and everything else is stunningly good for a 2-day game jam. However, I got stuck at the part with the fox.

Developer(+2)

Thank you! It can be a bit tricky, but try sneaking up next to it without using the lantern, then turn on the light. :)

Thanks for the tip!
