Really lovely music and artwork. It always comes as a disappointment when one notices that their game jam concept is too ambitious, but what resulted here was nicely polished and works well as a teaser. I found it an intriguing choice to use this kind of medium to discuss such "heavy" topics. It is of course not unusual to use fiction to explore serious, real-world subjects, but in smut it's much more uncommon. And the serious subjects wove well into the more explicitly erotic sequences, which themselves have a good flow and ebb.

I do have one complaint about the writing--much of it felt very insubstantial. I felt like I could have accidentally clicked through 20% of the dialog and would not have missed anything. That sometimes makes it hard to tell what's important. Clover and Hazel spend a good amount of time discussing the mechanical details of their in-universe novel, but that didn't go anywhere. Having a whole scene to introduce Charlie probably makes sense for the multi-episode arc you're trying to tell, but it felt too long for just this prologue. Fluffy dialog is certainly naturalistic, but in fiction, reality is often condensed for easier digestion--I have the feeling "hyper-realism" is not your goal here. Then again, maybe I haven't read enough visual novels, and this is typical for the genre.

I liked Herb. I wish I could have my own Herb.

Plush Lexy gets to me quite unexpectedly, honestly forgot I was into this kind of stuff. Can't get enough of your art style, A+. I haven't played through much to any visual novels in years (or ever), but this is the first one I'm excited to see more of when finished.

For a single month's work, you two did an amazing job. One thing I always liked about some of glip's other works is the way it hits you with incredibly relatable emotions when you least expect it, and this story is not exception.

The art and music were so lovely~ really enjoyed how deep some of the topics were in the story. For what was there it was great, and makes me excited to see the rest of it! The character designs are really unique and fun to look at. I enjoyed how many expressions there were, and how they suited what the character was talking about and going through. Really polished, and super cute! Really nice job! ^^

So, I  know less than nothing about The Floraverse, and I also haven't played the other games referenced on the page. But! This is still very good if you treat it as a stand-alone thing. The characters are wildly unique, and they all look super cool. I can appreciate that, even if I don't know the wider setting.

It's a bit of a shame that it didn't end up being interactive, but, well, game jams. It's still super cool as a piece of audiovisual storytelling, because all of its parts fit together extremely well. The art is great, the music is cool, and the writing is quite charming. The character design especially is really on point. I'm getting a real sense of personality from all the critters in this game, and they feel like real people. Plus, yeah, wow, the creative process sure is like that sometimes, huh.

Something that has me wondering is the sense of meta-narrative, here. It's a story about a writer, and we also have in-game commentary on the game, so there's like... three different layers of fiction here. That has me wondering if the dev commentary is planned to be part of the final product. If so, this is an incredibly cool way to set that up. If it isn't, I still had a good time!

[definitely spoilers in this comment!!]

Wow this game hit me in the feels in ways that no game has in years. I forgot games could hit you in the feels like that, what.

Clover is deeply relatable and I connected so hard over... like, everything about her? Her writing/creation aspirations, her optimistic, kinda naïve attitude about the world, her past not-great sexual experiences and the way she hasn't really found the way to move on from that yet, and also let'snotforget super cute trans girl, good

I cried a lot! Really good tears! There were a bunch of lines which just made me stop and gasp and take everything in and be like - nooooo whattt this is so painful and strong and also EXACTLY what I feel and, how am I connecting with a miniature video game story over this better than I've ever really been able to get across with the people who are closest to me? (I related to that part, Clover expressing herself more readily with Cerise (and Lexy!) than Hazel, too!!) It's cliche but I felt seen in a way that these kinds of stories are so good at telling.

Also, Clover getting up from the couch mid-breakdown (also midway through the story) and getting out of the house like that—that was chilling. In an, "I understand this and, though I haven't let myself feel anything like this in a long time, it effortlessly conveys exactly what this actually feels like" kind of way. I could ramble about every part of the narrative and writing for ages but I'll cut myself off and just say, I was completely emotionally gripped from start to finish, and I loved it.

The art and music are also just stunning. I love each character's design. I especially liked how Hazel was so expressive with gestures and poses and the like—naturally so, with less emphasis on their face, but goshdarn that's always a touch I love seeing! The transition from rubber -> plush Lexy was also so cool. I really liked how the backgrounds changed just a bit through the course of the day—and similarly, even though the primary tracks (home and amorous district) were reused, they felt different each time. All that changed was the tone of the story, but both of these songs felt so dynamic and continually emotionally connected! I have no idea how that kind of thing is pulled off, and maybe it's partially because I just love Flora music in the first place, but they played such a huge part in drawing me into the atmosphere, both Dewclaw-culturally and narrative-tonally. (also I love the Dewclaw Bazaar theme and hearing it reimagined here was so so cool.) Oh oh oh one last thing visiting Cherry Kisses and getting to decompress there and explore in ways Clover couldn't even come close to comfortably doing so before, was so good, and the music played another big part there!

Okay I think that's basically everything that I can fit without taking up two screen heights with a wall of text. This VN is awesome and I can't wait to see what you do with the full game!

[lots of spoilers in this comment if you are scrolling upwards for some reason!]

All of the elements fit amazingly well with one other. The character designs are exceptionally flavorful and expressive. The environmental art is detailed, stylish and makes excellent use of color. The music sets the mood for every scene really well and has a good bit of whimsy to it to match the art. It's all brought together by the dialogue oriented writing, which has both bounce and emotional depth. Even for a team of two, this game has a *lot* of quality content in it for a month long jam.

Really like the smaller touches, like the use of fonts to boost the visual language of the text and the animated transitions. Objects and events showing up on screen when they're mentioned works really well to build a complete and nuanced world. Every design decision feels deliberate, but it's all done with an uninstructive lightness that would make casual players never even notice that it's there.

I usually like to leave some suggestions for potential improvements when I comment, but everything feels very polished and whole. The only thing I can think of is that the house theme has some notes in it that are a little too jarring for my ears.

A very well polished presentation. Even the missing content has stand-ins to cover up for it! Love the story and I would of course love to see it continued! Absolutely wonderful game!

Edit: I played again with speakers and the harsh house theme notes were barely even noticeable, so it might just be an issue if you're using headphones.

This was really good! Loved the interesting fonts. The music was really really good in its odd, yet pleasant sounds. The art rules! It makes me really want to experience the game in full!

This story goes places, oh wow. Also I love the music and the art.

I kind of wish I could disable the text building effect though, so I could read it at my own pace like a comic instead of being slowed down, but that's VNs for you.

EDIT: Oh, you can, by pressing Esc and increasing the text speed. Yay!
