I think the game goes from too easy to too hard.
There's a lot of dead time at the start where the player needs to wait for the slow-moving enemies to get hit by the slow moving bullets.
And, because the enemies spawn in huge clumps, when the difficulty of each enemy increases, the difficulty of the wave increases multiplicatively.
It's okay - the colour mechanic was cool. But this feels like it would be better with Space Invaders-esque shooting instead of a turret. It was also fairly easy for what seems like an arcade game in a lot of ways, so a bit more challenge would be nice.
I survived all the waves :)

Just add sound effects and a highscore and it's a complete retro-package :)
This was a good one! Always nice to see a pico-8 game in game jams like these. It took me a little bit to understand the controls and mechanics and the game was a little too long for what it was, but otherwise very fun!
Nice concept. It could certainly use some sound effects. Also I feel the difficulty curve wasn't quite right. First two levels are really easy and then it suddenly gets very difficult.
Like the game. one thing I would have done is make a little in-game text for the first 10 seconds to explain what to do. But that's just something I would have done 👍
