Really fun and well made within the time limit. I would only suggest that the heal only heals either the ship or the planet, that way you get some decision making on what you want to heal.

Really fun and an amazing amount of polish for this length of development with the effects and sounds! I think the aiming needs a little fix as it doesn't match up exactly where the cursor is. But this feels already feels like a complete/cohesive little game!

thank you very much.. I've already fixed the aiming but I'm not going to update the game until after the jam is over .

Reading through other comments, I see you originally had the ship move using the arrow keys to fit the theme. I will agree that mouse movement is snappier and likely more fun, however moving to mouse does stray away from the theme as there really isn't anything else that ties it to that.

The only other gripe I have with the mouse controls is that the lasers don't actually shoot towards the mouse, they shoot off center from it, but off center in different ways depending on where you are facing.

With that said, very well done game, very fun, was enjoyable to play.

thank you very much.. it was a tough decision to switch the controls but when i participated in the last jam with the theme one button controls. I really wanted to add a reset button to my game but opted not to because I didn't want to stay from the theme.. so I made a worse game to fit the theme and every comment said that they wish it had a reset button.. lol..

The game was inspired and designed around the theme even though the finished product doesn't reflect that very well..

The polish of this game is really astounding.

I originally was pretty confused about the theme here, and after a lot of thinking - honestly - I'm still not really sure whether I get the theme usage.

Still, the gameplay was really smooth. The feedback, especially for the Earth being destroyed is really amazing (though arguably it could be toned down a bit with how often it happened).

The graphics were this really simple 8-bit asthetic and I really enjoyed it.

Audio was also great.

Good job!

thanks so much for the feedback.. the theme is bidirectional so I thought clockwise and counter clockwise.. I was originally using the arrow keys to rotate the ship around the planet and perhaps the theme was more obvious then. But the gameplay felt way more fluid by having the ship follow the mouse..

Fun game, the aesthetic is really consistent and cool.

It is so incredible what you have done in just under three hours. Art, sound, gameplay all comes well together.

Pure arcadey fun! I love it! It all comes together so well and in such a short time- impressive! The heart is a good mechanic to provide some relief, but what could be cool is allowing the player to somehow be overpowered (like Vampire survivors/Brotato) and like firing tons of rockets at the invaders

Smaller feedback which I think could  improve the experience

- I love shooting other missiles out before they hit me, it would be so cool if that exploded with a tiny particle animation

- Firing at hearts to collect them instead of having them "come" to us, this is just a gut feeling but imo makes sense to make EVERYTHING about shooting

Developer

I love all of your suggestions.. my first thought was to shoot the hearts but in early  game the hearts were OP and during a jam most people play a game for about 45 seconds so I thought it would make you wait a little longer to increase the difficulty during the early  game..

Very nice game. The heart feels a little too overpowered in early game but the difficulty curve is still very good.

nice approach. I struggle to handle it at first lol
